I have an '88 GT without Sun/Moon roof. I don't think any Fiero GT came with a Sun/Moon roof. I've notice true sport cars don't have one so what do you guys & gals think about putting a sun/moon roof on a choptop?

If you can please IYO (In Your Opinion) state the Good, the Bad and the Ugly...

Thanks

My 1986 Fiero GT has a sunroof, It's a real Fiero GT, not a replica.

All Fiero spaceframes have the cut out for the sunroof, which is why they are so common.. Most all GTs have them. Many chop tops have sunroofs as well.

Oh by the way, to answer your question, for me a sunroof is a minimum. I wouldn't own a Fiero without some type of glass in the roof.

A person could argue structural integrity on a chop top with sunroof. When length is taken out of the roof for the chop it must be made up for if the sunroof is kept, this means more cutting and welding on the rear hoop. A non sunroof chop top wouldn't require this and the rear hoop would be untouched.

The way we chop them the sunroof hole & all the sunroof hardware remain stock. NO modifications to accommodate a sunroof are required.

The sun/moon roof is a great additon to the choptop. It gives you an additonal inch of headroom and the additional light gives the interior a feeling of spaciousness.

I'm going to assume that you mean on a non-sunroof car chop top, instead of maintaining that hole in the stock size you would instead shorten it up and maintain more structural roof behind the sunroof area instead?

I don't think you would have more or less cutting or welding, with or without a sunroof, but I see your point that if the roof gets smaller and you have this big hole in it of the same size as before then I have less structure there after the chop.

True, but Archie beefs up the remaining roof and pillars quite a bit in the process. You would have the crush the car to prove it, but I'm betting the roof of the chop top is as strong as the stock roof, if not stronger.
