Anthony Cook (Jelly2M8) passed on a tip for adapting tie rods from a 1990 Chev. Lumina a while back and since Anthony is no longer posting here, I thought that I'd share it with all again. . However, the Lumina tierod has threads instead of a stud on the inner end. You just make a stud that fits into the Lumina end using a cut and sized end of the old Fiero outer tie rod outer end. This stud that is cut to size from the end of the old tie rod screws into the inner end of the Lumina tie rod and is held with a nut. Two washers are then placed on the new stud end with the locknut. This stud is then put in the inner mounting bracket and a nut and washer put on the new end and tightened. The outer end of the Lumina tie rod has the same threads as the Fieros so you just use the old jam nut and screw the outer tie rod end on. This method uses Moog P/N EV195 tie rods. While this solution may not be ideal, it is a solution if you can't find OEM quality Fiero inner rear tie rods. Anthony claimed that he did this rod replacement on over 20 different Fieros, including his V8 Fiero and on one that was run over 50km without any problems. It is my understanding that new Fiero tie rods are now being imported from Communist China, but I've heard from a reliable source that the quality is very poor. You don't want to have anything but the best tie rods in the rear of your Fiero as that is the main support member that prevents your tires from toeing in on acceleration and holds the tires position firm. If a rear tie rod were to let go, it will cause loss of control possibly with catastrophic results. You DON'T want to skimp here.

Crap, I guess that means I should check my rear tie rods.
So far I was under the impression that just the front end needed to be looked at and the rear end is mostly safe..
