Not to my knowledge, the 4cyl ecu knows the optimal shift points for the stock Iron duke, the SE/formula/GT ecu does not. I don't think the V6 has the output on the harness for that wire. If I am wrong please let me know, I'd like for mine to work but I don't think its possible. However for like $60 one of those guage companies makes a pen sized shift light thats universal, so I guess you could wire it up inside the dash, cut up the housing, and stick the bulb in the slot.

Well my 86SE with the stock 2.8 must have been broke, cause the shift light worked in it. it was very annoying

Both of my manual cars have up shift lights. There are 2 shift points,,, one for gas milage and one for power. Both of my cars are V6s. The 85 is an SE2M6 the 86 is a GT.

Well there was another thread dedicated to it and the 87-88 GTs never worked, thats just what fellow members have told me. Mine in 19 years never worked. Some guy from the car show with an 88 Formulas never came on.

I would just check to see whether a wire has come off in the engine bay. I have had to fix most of my guages due to the brittle solder joins and wires.

I believe that 86 was the last year that the shift light was stock from the factory. The light worked on 85 and 86 year models.
wow. 86 was the last year? that makes me want to figure out how to get it to work on the 87 n 88's. my brother has a 87. and he is decking his 3.4 out. im sure he would love that light for the milage.
