Drinking some beer with my brother yesterday, he was telling me about a thread on a vintage motorcycle list (I think it was probably the Brit Bike list.)

Anyhow, he was telling me about a comparison of the various penetrating oils--PB Blaster, Kroil, Liquid Wrench, etc. "And you know what the best one is?"

"No." (me glancing at the can of PB Blaster in his hand.)

"It's homemade penetrating oil. Equal parts ATF (automatic transmission fluid) & Acetone."

I don't know--I'm not doing any mechanical projects right now. (And my cars don't suffer from much rust.) Any of you guys back in the rust belt willing to give it a try?

possible to get a link to the test results??

...the only thing I would worry about the acetone or brake fluid are their taste for painted surfaces
