I never got PIP to work. And when you think of it, working online with the firewall disabled isn't an attractive idea. It would be nice if PIP were overhauled so that it actually worked. But until it is, why bother with it?
I use myfiero.com http://www.myfiero.com/imagehost.php It's very easy, and works every time! Doesn't require downloading and installing software, either.

And why would you need to disable your firewall? As with any program that sends out information over the internet, you need to allow PIP to do so. To use your words, it isn't really an attractive idea if PIP would actually bypass your firewall, now would it?
The reason web based interfaces work, is because your browser has the rights to send out information over the internet. Any information. That's why it's a source of so many security leaks because you give a single program the rights to send out data, and it will use that right to send out any data. Like a file to an FTP server. Or a picture to a photo hosting site. Or your CC information to some obscure server in the Ukraine. Or your PayPal login data to a guy in Poland. Or your online banking password to an IRC server in Nigeria.

Jeez Cliff, I didn't intend to offend you. I've had really limited luck with PIP, and myfiero has worked for me. When I first started posting images, I tried PIP, I installed the little program, temporarily disabled my firewall, enabled cookies, and on and on. And had pretty mixed results. And, nothing personal, but I've got better things to do with my time than to mess with bulky software. Maybe it is a matter of my browser settings or something, but I just don't have the time or motivation to keep trying.
Myfiero gets the job done--it's all I really need to get images posted. (It's not my site, btw, I have no knowledge of the site's ownership and no commercial or other interest in the site.)

You didn't. I just get grumpy when I read things about PIP that aren't factual (I'm over 40 now, I'm allowed to have my grumpy moments!). I don't mind people not liking the program. Because in all honesty, I never really finished it (since it worked fine in the good ol' Win98 days). "Error 13" is of course no way of saying: "Hey, you either need to give PIP rights to setup an outgoing connection over port 80, or I can't find an image you previously posted" (two of the many reasons PIP can throw an error 13 at you). But saying you need to disable your firewall to get PIP to work simply isn't true. That's like saying "I don't like housekeepers because I need to unlock my front door when I leave in the morning otherwise they can't get in". You don't unlock your door, you give them a key.
We used to have another member here that made up all kinds of crap about PIP that wasn't true just to plug his own hosting site.

I never said you shouldn't use photo hosting sites. But don't use them because you think it's safer to use than PIP because they are not - quite the opposite, really. Use them because you can't get PIP to work, or because you don't like PIP, or because you think the PIP servers are too slow. Or because you think it's easier. Or because you think it looks like crap in XP. I really, really don't care. But I do care when people say things about PIP that aren't true because that implies something about me as a programmer.

I have not had any problem with PIP. The first time I used I got a popup from my security software that asked if I wanted to allow PIP acces to the internet. I clicked yes and have never had a problem since. You can browse your pics from there and then double click when you find the one you are looking for. Click "post it" then paste where you want it to go. Thats it. I have yet to find anything else that is as easy. I think you did a great job Cliff finished or not. Oh, and that history feature... brillliant. Once you've posted it once you have even quicker acces to it afterward.
Brin Lamberts: Assuming you have windows firewall. You open the control panel, click on windows firewall, click on exceptions tab, and select pip. This will allow PIP acces to the internet for image hosting. Most other firewalls can be switched in a similar way. Hope this helps.
