I was wondering how heavy a Fiero Gt shell is?

Meaning: Frame with plastic body on top, complete interior including seats, brake/shock assembly, trunk,... pretty much everything except: Engine, Tranny, cradle, exhaust, wheels.

I'm not even that interested in lbs, but more real world numbers: i.e. How many average strength people would it take to lift and carry it?
The reason I'm asking is because there aren't any wheels on the car/shell, so rolling is completely out of the question. :-(

Well a full Fiero is usually between about 2500 pounds and 2800 pounds. Minus the engine, tranny, etc, you're still looking at over (Or at least close to) 2000 pounds.

Can you put wheels on the front? That would make it a lot easier if you plan to go lugging it around by hand.

Yea, I think I could put wheels on the front. It looks like the brake rotors are still on it in the front. (the body is sitting on dirt atm)
On the rear there is nothing to attach wheels to.

I'm assuming that taking out the seats and other simple stuff won't make much of a difference, right?

Well my neighbor has a trailer, that he said I could borrow any time. I just don't have a car/truck/suv to hook it up to.
I'm guessing I could get help putting the frame on the flat trailer, but how am I going to get it back off?

Plan B would be stripping everything off the bare frame. How long would that take? Is the steel body the heaviest part?
Would there be any benefit to keep the steel underpinnings?

Would it make more sense to st

Taking off Anything will help the weight, but not much on it's own. The Fiero is a lot of car. You'd have to strip it to really get the weight down.
Stripping it to the frame would take quite awhile, especially if you haven't done it before. Plan on spending several days at it.
The frame makes up a fair bit of the weight, but it's lighter than I expected it to be.

the junk yard or scrap metal place will probably be able to unload it for you from the trailer. or if youre doing something else with it, use a chain or towstrap it to something stationary and pull the trailer forward, dragging the car off of it

If ypur trying to save it. The tires attach to the rotors on the front, so that 1/2 rolls. Try buying the roll-around things for cars. They go under the tires and let you roll it around in a garage or such. Should work if under the reaar section I would think. I was putting the spare without engine fiero on my trailer in the fall of 2005. It wasn't aligned well to the trailer and I was almost on when it started to fall off the ramp. I put my 2 ton jack (4 little wheels) under the back frame in the middle and lifted it right up. It was easy to finish loading it this way. I suspect two wheels in front and if it is a rollable surface, you could use a jack with wheels to move it .

Alternative thought: if you have a method for temporary attachment, you could check for a cheap mobile home axle and wheels. even chains might serve the purpose to attach it.

You'd need about a dozen people to lift simply the space frame with the interior, all body panels aside. I don't recommend you try to man handle it.

Thanks for all the tips.

I'll go to the bone-yard again and check out which one of those suggestions is the most feasible..
