When does one consider a car a feasilbe donor?
Yhe 85M4 I was looking at is in very good shape.
Window are good with a few minor scratches.
Seats are very good with no visible wear. speaker in seats.
Front windshield is perfect.Tail lenses are in good shape
Gauges all work.
My quesrion is this.
Would gauges from a 4 cylinder work in a 86 6 cylinder?
The windshield on the 86 has a stone chip, side windows are scratched probably beyond repair.

Gauges {water temp} on the 86 doesn't work
Is it justifiable to strip a four cylinder to upgrade a six?
The 84 is also manual, which I don't especially care for.

84 is selling for 1295.00{ asking price now,}
84 runs great and has 58000 miles on it.
If you were to buy all parts I mentioned, what would they be worth?

Well I can try a couple questions--keep in mind I don`t know the 4 cylinders real well. Gauge question , my guess would be probally not, most 86`s I have seen have the oil and volt pod on top of the center consol, you could wire or calibrate allmost anything to make it work, but it might be easier to pick up a 6 cylinders cluster & pod. Strip a 4 cylinder to up grade a 6, if your talking about seats, interior parts, some body panels, glass, ect and other cosmetic parts I would have to say yes. Would need a complete list of what all you need the donor for before I could justify the price, if I`m understanding correctly, your looking to upgrade your current 6 cylinder buy buying a 4 cylinder car , that only has 58 K on it and runs good? Or do I have this wrong? Parts cars are a great Idea they pay for them-selves a 1000 times over--but I would look for a 6 cylinder one--again I`m not 100% sure if I have the story correct.

the tach will not read right, one is calibrated for 4x signal, the other is for 6x signal, and the interior's in both car's will be different colors, the 84-85 greys were light grey and 84-85 tan was light tan, and 86-88 was a different color darker grey, and 86-87 was a saddle tan, then 88 was beechwood, but physically if you change it all over door panels and all it would be fine, you can also just change the seats and that will look just fine, but if you change the dash or door panels or center console glove box, those will be different.

sounds like the 85 would be a fine car to do a motor swap to and leave it be if the interior is that nice, but id check for rust first i guess.

Fiero 86========= that is kinda like telling where the fish are biting best.
LOL
If I don;t get it I will tell you.
For the other quwstions, Yes I was thinking windows,tail lights.
If the gauges won't work, that is out.
Thinking about it. maybe just clean it up a bit and get used to a stick shift again.
One more question. Did that all come with 13 inch tires? {the 85's?}
I had already put Cavalier seats in the 86, more to get my butt of the ground. The originals had the usual tear on the driver's side.
Thanks for all your help.

I think some of the 2.5`s came with 13 inch tires--but still think you can fit 14 & 15`s on them.

Why stop there? All Fieros can accept 18" wheels with no issues, the 88s can accept 20 inch wheels on the back bone stock.
