I have an idea and am looking for somebody that can do some custom carbon fiber work for me. I'm not sure if it's something that I can do myself, although it really isn't a complicated thing. I don't have any experience with it, though depending on what it would cost to have someone do it for me, I may decide that it sould be better to try it on my own. I'd rather not reveal what it is that I'm doing until it's done. I can say that it wouldn't involve using a mold and that it would be more of a covering with a protective coating...

Is this an overlay for appearance or to add rigidity to a part? Most anybody here who has done the same thing (whatever that may be) with fiberglass would be able to do this. It might take a bit more time to learn to place the cloth and align the weave for decorative purposes, as well as to avoid hazing and pinhole bubbles, but still not much different than fiberglass repairs and layup by hand.

BTW, If the cloth will be visible or you need strength, you'll want to use a good UV-stabilized epoxy. Don't use a polyester or other cheapass fiberglass resin unless neither looks nor the higher strength of carbon fiber matter, in which case why would anyone be using CF?
