Surprised you haven't gottena lot of "why not put a 350 in it instead of that 305"? A 305 in a Fiero is more power than the car needs so you should have a good time once the swap is done, and concidering the engine was free whos to argue. Good luck with swap and enjoy smokin a import when your done.

200hp or less is more than a Fiero needs? Better get rid of this 3.4 then.

Its up to the owner, but myself there are only 3 versions of small block worth doing. 383 stroker (torque), 350 or 327 (hi revs). ...and they all fit in the same space with identical (more or less) hardware.

My guess is that once he figures out it's going to cost 3-5 thousand dollars to complete the swap
that free engine is going to give him heartburn.

It seems that with a lot of engine swaps the engine is not the main cost factor.

Is this a father son project?
Archie is probably your best bet, he backs his kit with support where the others dont.
The 305 can be swapped out later if you feel the need to have more power than it will give. Good luck with your project.

305s have potential and is much better than a 2.8. I have seen some putting more power than many 350s here. And then of course you can always easily upgrade later. Let's assume you find the correct used basic kit for your engine for $700 then plan to spend at least $1.8k6+ to begging with for swap parts asuming your engine already came with ramhorn manifolds.

remote oil relocator -$40
starter - $150
clutch assembly - $300
electric water pump - $250
custom exhaust (muffler, pipes) - $100 (using cheap cherry bombs and cheap pipes and doing it yourself with borrowed welder)
fuel pressure regulator - $50
hoses, clamps, fittings, plugs, oil, coolant, misc, etc. $250

well it wouldnt be a father son project because he works constantly.....im disapointed to hear that im not going to be able to dothis because of the cost of the parts i knew it would take alot of money but i was hoping that the engine would be most of the cost and since i got mine free .....maybe ill just hold on to the engine untill i get anoter vehicle to drive to work so i wont get stranded ......im thinking that you all dont know im 16 lol im good when it comes to working on vehicles, motorcycles, and 4-wheelers....just about anything with a motor .....anyway thank you all for your comments if there is anyone i can talk to about this in the chat section lets figure something out i am still intrested in the swap just have a few questions again thank you all sooo much -daniel

You could always build the car around the 305, then when you have more to spend, just unbolt the 305 and replace it with 350/383. Nearly everything will all fit the same.

You say that you are 16. Well start saving money now or if you have some money coming in then start buying the small stuff that you will need. There is a kit on e-bay now that has most of the big parts you would need but the aution is up to $1250.oo now. So fine out on a site like V8 Archie's the little parts you will need, like was mention above. Then in the next few months or years buy them as you can. The stock car will be alot of fun for someone your age any ways.
