After reading Herb Adams post and Gary Wittezenbergs book I came to the same conclusion. My DOHC 3.4 makes enough noise with the exhaust so additional hissing is not allowed. I even kept the water seperator but only modified the air cleaner support shaft internally to flow better by cutting and rewelding it. But hey whatever floats your boat.... if you like it that is all that matters and I'm sure Rodney likes the money and as long as he does I'm sure he will offer other quality products we all can buy for our toys.

restrictions are a funny thing...

In a dyno session, I made 145rwhp with a peak @ 4500 rpm with the stock air filter setup.
I removed the intake tube from the throttle body and made 145rwhp with a peak @ 5500rpm.

This was on my modded 3.4 from 5 years ago.

I guess you tune your intake to your driving style and engine's needs. Only a dyno can really tell you what is happening.

Now if we could make a variable intake, then peak hp could be maintained across a wider rpm band. When someone makes one of those, they will make alot of $$$.

The subject of this thread was "Rodney's New Air Intake Kit," so unless you're referring to something else, it's not apparent why you've seemed to assert "it's a 'for sure' that you'll get less air filter life" from Rodney's cold air intake (CAI) kit.

Rodney's CAI lets you use the SAME canister air filter as that for the stock Fiero. Rodney's CAI also draws air from the SAME source as the stock one. So why would it be a "for sure" that air filter life would be less with Rodney's CAI?

True about the intake, however for anyone changing over to one of our high flow intakes or a carb setup, I would suggest you get one of Rod's airbox mod kits. No sense in getting the flow up with a new intake and then holding it down by leave that restrictive thing. And dont even consider hoingwith a cone filter and ditching the air box. That will just injest hot air!

I did this to my airbox, same result, just dif aporach.
