i wanted to show a friend of mine the gm of europe opel speedster .i went to there website and found that production has been halted.ditto for the vauxhall x220.these were really neat cars ,similar to the lotus elise and partially built by lotus as far as i remember .i had to go to auto trader of holland to find pictures of the opel.and guess what has replaced these cars ?the european version of the pontiac solstice.it will be interesting to see how sales compare.

I wonder what the front to rear ratio is on the Speedster, I think I've read it's pretty close to 50/50 in the solstice

car and driver did a test on one of these cars around year 2000 ,but i didnt keep it around .i know they were lightweights ,using the same type of chassis as the lotus elise .the opel was the more upscale car.i noticed that the vauxhall goes relatively cheap used ,too bad about the right hand drive.

These cars were Lotus Elies that were up contented just a little more to GM spec using the Ecotech engine.

They were heavier than the Lotus but not by much. They also were completely built by Lotus for GM and were very limited in production in England a the Lotus factory.

Great handling car but you paid the price in noise, water leaks, lack of comfort items most come to expect today, durability [never a Lotus strong point]. It was a weekend racer more than a daily driver sports car at a near $50,000 price.

You know, I heard the rear suspension was designed by Lotus.
