So all these years of taking my broken truck parts to the junk yard for him to recycle has paid off. I get word of a new Fiero in a yard and check it out today. 88GT! Tried to buy it, but title says for destruction on it. So far all that is missing is the seats, 1 sail wing and pasenger front fender. What it has. All black, Nose has GT emblem. Gold lace wheels, 5speed, sunroof, power mirrors and windows, and the carbon look gauge trim.
So I guess I will get almost everything I can. What do I need to remeber to get?

front cover is going on my car, sorry. The one I was going to put on is in the basement. It has Fiero badge, and square molding. I may part with it, if I don't swap it onto the bumperpad 84.

Most important is all the suspension. The front bits like wheel bearings and such. The entire rear suspension, engine and trans if you can get it as a package.
A lot of people prefer the 88 Dot Matrix radio, shifter, speedo cover plates. They look like carbon fibre.
Uhm, check to see if it has a factory sub in the car. Easiest way to check is look up at the interior light panel and look to see if it has a performance sound slider. If that is there, you want the amp that is under the carpet on the passenger side. Its located near the shifter area inside a panel The sub is located under the passenger side foot well. You need all of it, including the slider and harness.
Those are the most sought after 88 parts I can think of.

Man, if you get me the rear swaybar mounting brackets. The ones that bolt to the rear struts. I would really appreciate it. Send price shipped to 77338 Thanks
My plan was to pull the rear cradle and all the suspention as a unit. Get it all in one shot. Get the rear fastback parts if the price is right. They never steer me wrong. Maybe the sunroof while I am at it. Could be only the frame left with little interior when I am done. No SUbwoofer, but I got that in my 86 already.
They also have a red Areo nose on a nochback that is in good shape.

Isuzu was on 4 cylinders only. All 5-speed V6s got the Getrag - for all years. (i.e. if it's a V6 and a 5-speed, it's a Getrag)
88 specific items to grab: Front spindles with wheel bearings Steering rack Brake calipers Entire rear cradle and suspension (including rear sway bar) Dot matrix dash surround
Also, the GT tail lights are worth something if they're in good shape. And of course, any good GT body panels. Not 88 specific, but fastback GT parts aren't as common as notchback parts.
so the front suspention is the same, but the spindles are diferent? or just not worth the trouble to get all the front sspention? I am assuming the brakes along with the spindle setup.
How many GT panels are diferent? fenders, doorskin, rear side panels? or just nose and tail?
Should I cut the rear framerails to get the strut mounts in the right place for a swap, or not worry about it?.

The front suspension is all different. Get the entire front subframe/suspension if you can, but typically the wheel bearings and steering rack and knuckles are the most often needed parts.
All body panels between GT and notchback are the same except: Nose rear bumper rear clip & taillights
It has aero mouldings, but they're the same as an aero notchback. The rear bumper looks similar to an aero notchback bumper, but it is different on the fastback.
I will try to get the whole front subframe too, since I don't have an 88.
Should I start a WWYD thread? My 2 fieros I own are black 86GT, daily driver. Plus a white 84, not shure what is wrond with the 4cyl. 100k miles.
How important is the rear strut angle. Will the 88 stuf bolt to the pre 88 strut holes, or will I need the adapter and coilovers? what about the front?

First of all: STRIP IT. To the bare frame. Seriously.
Secondly, It has power mirrors... I need them so badly! Would you be able to get those for me? I'd be forever in your debt... If you could grab those and the center panel with the switches on it, that'd be great. The wiring would be awesome too, but if it's too hard to grab the wires then no worries. The power window switches would be nice as well, and the door handle panels with the power switches on 'em. If the interior is beechwood then PM me please I want it
Thanks!!! Save this car!!!
Steve

front wheel liners!! 88GTs have different liners then all others, most people dont realise this. a freind hit a racoon and tore his. and he has spent months looking for another. and like others said get the suspension parts, and fastback GT only parts.
edit: and get the front wheels. those are 88 only as well. the whole set is worth getting. but the rears can be substituted with 86-87 s
Yup it's beechwood. (tan right) No seats. center consol is missiing 1 ashtray door. dot matrix on the pod has a wear spot. no seats. wing is on it.
I need to drill the trunk lock out to get in, no keys. Unless I can pick it. then I will see what is in the trunk. I plan to spend a day stripin it down. First my parts, then the rest. got to have priorities you know.
BTW I may be taking a trip to Florida in a few weeks. I may be able to haul a few things if I do. depends on space.

dont need to drill it out. just take a flat head screw driver that you can donate to the cause and a hammer. then just go though the key hole. it takes a while to get though and dont seem like its moving till it breaks though but it will go.

...you don't even need to do this (assuming it has a power trunk release). If you have a cordless drill, you can use the battery to supply power (use some test leads) to the power trunk circuit to just pop it open (ground the battery -ve and attach the +ve to the trunk fuse or directly to the switch).

I need the radio dot matrix surround, mine has a cracked corner. I also need the complete rear sway bar. Would like to have the complete five speed set up. 78028 You might check to see if the title can be upgraded to "salvaged" and keep it. Why is it designated as "destroy"?

Well the yard lost it's licence.. They plan to get a new one, but are waiting for the proper paperwork to be filed. could be a couple weeks. If anything new pops up I will keep you posted. I told them to take are of it, and not to pile more cars on top of it if they decidetoclan the place up. Keeping my fingers crossed
