Can I put 18x8 rims on front? Can a 255/40/19 fit on rear? This is for an 88GT.

Just so you get the idea, my car is an 88gt with rear coil overs, and I got 18X8 wheels with 225/35/18 on the front with 42 offset. And 19X9.5 wheels on the back with 275/30/19 and 38 offset. It actually looks very good and I love it. I wish I could of find my wheels on 18X7.5 for the front; then I would of got 215/40/18

I forgot, the 88 fieros can house bigger wheels than the early year cars (due to its suspension design). And also is very important when it comes to 88 cars is the off set on the front wheels (you want to have as much as possible). If you want my advice don't go any bigger than 8 inch wide on the front (I will stick to 7 or 7.5). Search on google for a wheel offset calculator you can find out how much your new wheels will stick in, and as much as out, all you'll need is the stock wheels sizes and offsets as well as the new ones. The 88's Stock front wheels are 15X6 with 37mm offset, and on the back 15X7 with 35mm or 30mm offset (I'm not sure about the rear offset).

Gool luck!

You don't have to change your suspension on the front. You just don't want to use too big of a tire/wheel on the front. (8 inches is as big I will go on the front) then again 7 to 7.5 is best. On the back you can not get too big...Nothing less than 8.5 will be best. But if your wheels are 8 inch all around then go with 215/40/18 on the front and 245/40/18 on the back. You really have to get used to this issue, your front wheels might look under dress with the 215 on the front, but then again the biggest I'll suggest going on the back with 8 inch is 245 since a 255 is duable but it will not serve you the best since the your tire will be making a oval shape (if you look at the ridding path) and this is not good for the life of the tire. So even though 225 on the front will be better, the problem is that you can not go bigger than 245 on the back, and so because 20mm is not enough of a difference you got to keep the front to 215. In less you dare to go with a 255 on the back. (I will try to get a 255/40/18) keeping the side wall tall is somewhat all you can do to minimize the stress on the bigger tire being fit on a rather small wheel.
Good luck!

You can go 19/20 on a bone stock 88GT

fronts are 19 x 8 with 235/35-19 35 mm offset
rears are 20 x 8.5 with 265/35-20 35 mm offset

I would have preferred a front wheel with more offset or narrower, but they are not commonly available with matching rears.
