Should you have followed my expoits on my web site you will know that many moons ago I 'upgraded' the brakes and suspension with a Held Motorsports setup. You might also know that a while ago the bearing on one of the front hubs from that kit died, so I removed all the stuff from the front and put the original knuckles, brakes, calipers etc back on. However since it had been a pain getting the master cyl for that kit to seal and not wanting to disturb anything more than I had to I left it on.

It's been working fine like that for some while, little less feel to the pedel but otherwise ok. So today I decide to go home for lunch (I usually stay at work) and I like an early lunch so off I toddles. The early lunch was a good idea because the roads were quiet. As I aproached the lights along the main drag in front of work they changed to yellow so I presed the brakes, not much happend so I hit them harder (but not 'stand on them' hard), followed by BANG and my foot and the brake pedal hit the floor. Thank god for ebrakes and manual tranies. Pull the brake, slam it in 1st and I slow down sharpish. Since the light was still yellow and there was no traffic in front of me (that early lunch thing!) I was able to coast thru the junction and into a car park.

I though a hose had burst or come off but no, when I popped the hood one of the steel brake lines that goes from the master cyl to the prop valve had completely broken at the bubble flare and the pipe had pushed right out from the master cyl. Not good.

Scared the **** out of me for a sec but it could have been a LOT worse. I stil lhave the orig master cyl, looks like I'll be putting it back on again after all.
