yeah, i didnt know who anyone was, didnt really talk to anyone at all. there where a few pretty nice cars, my favorite being the blue fastback in the pic. there where a couple others as well, but just isnt quite like the car shows we have here. Everyoene talks to everyone, even if its jus a simple comment about something that sparks a conversation, then random people tend to join in. I guess i am jus too spoiled by our weekly car show.
But there where for sure some FANTASTIC cars there! just nothing that really got me going like i was hoping for, i mainly went for motivation on my project.

I got home from my trip to northeastern Iowa late this afternoon. I have been busy since then but hope to get some stuff up by late tomorrow night. I am working on the video right now.
Darth, if you have pictures of the winners with their cars please send them to me so that I can put them in the video. Since I met most of you just yesterday send the names and class too.

Kenton, I took pics of the winners using Fred's camera so we will have to get with him to get those. His handle here on PFF is "RAREW66". I also have quite a few pics I took using my camera that I will get posted in a few days after a catch up on work here at home.
As far as the show is concerned, the weather threatened rain all day and it spit on us from time to time but ultimately held off all day. The attendance was down from previous shows but appearantly this is the norm noticed at most Fiero shows this year so it wasn't unexpected. As usual we had a great time and I was actually very happy to see more people being up and around during this show compared to previous shows, but I think that had to do with the overcast, cool conditions. Again, I have pleanty of pics and will get them posted as soon as I get a minute.

I just wanted to extend my thanks to everyone who attended. I had a great time hosting; as always. The cook-out was a blast as always.
The official car count was 31. I somewhat expected a smaller turnout since it seems to be the trend this year. Our first year was 46, second 43.
SLOWnSTEADY: To bad you were so bashful. The Fiero Community is very friendly. There were many of us at the show that could have even given some free advise on getting your DOHC running. I hate to hear stuff like that at Fiero shows and mine in particular. Bring the car next year.
I have a ton of pictures that Darth took, so when I have a few minutes to resize I will post.

Edit: Nevermind. I will borrow some of your photos for the video.
I am in the process of finalizing the video and would like to have photos of the winning cars with the owner's name and category. I know Fred was working on that. If I could use your photos I would appreciate it. In the interest of bandwidth I will only post the 1st place finishers. I can pull them out of this thread if you post them here.

Yes, we met at Burger King in Altoona and drove together. His car won Best Daily-driver. I got second best stock 4-cylander. The guy who won had a quality coupe that if you really looked at it blew mine away.
The video just finished uploading. I missed a lot of things that were there but still got a lot of the good stuff. Since it was a show and not a drive, there isn’t any rolling footage. The file will be about 35 megs. It is huge but the quality is good. I don't feel as though I didn't do it justice but it is the best that I could do with the footage that I got. Some of the cars there belong in museums and I did not get them all. There were at least four cars that I would have liked to have in the video that I did not get. I realized it when I was putting it together. I missed at least one of the winners at the end. I can always add it to the video later when I figure out who's car it was and get photos. The video is mostly me wandering around, rambling about other people's cars. (Don't even bother if you have dial-up. You will still be waiting when the 4th Annual Heartland Car show rolls around).
it looks like everyone had a good time. maybe next year we can make it. thanks for posting the pictures and video so we could see what we missed.
Kenton how far up the Iowa Great River Road did you go?
I spent the night at a Super 8 in Maquoketa then drove up to Bellview and joined HWY 52. That is a beautiful town. Then I went thorough Dubuque and missed my turn so I ended up in Wisconsin. After that I drove on D10 and had my teeth loosened. It is a slow, residential road and is very rough. At Sherill, I joined C9Y went through Balltown and Buena Vista then out to Highway 52 near Guttenberg. C9Y is the best road in Iowa. It is curvy, well-maintained, smooth, and steep. I drove it three times. I would have had great video from it but I accidentally went to full zoom on my camera so the tape was worthless. You'll just have to trust me. Its good. There were also a lot of motorcycles that were riding on it.
From there I went to Elkader. C7x would be a good road in central Iowa but after C9Y it was just ok. Elkader is a neat town. They have the largest keystone arch bridge west of the Mississippi and the oldest family owned grocery store in Iowa. I liked that town.
C24 to Fayette is pretty good until you get just outside of town when you have to drive across about 1/2 mile of gravel. I will probably not go to Fayette again. It did not feel good to be there. I stopped at a gas station that still had the old pumps where the numbers rolled around on cylinders. There were three pickup truckloads full of rednecks that stopped what they were doing and started at me while I got gas. I had mace with me but not enough. I was so glad to get out of there. From both days I noticed that a lot of rednecks really don't like Fieros all that much. And they don't seem to have a problem yelling at you from their trucks. I got yelled at a lot in a not nice way. - Not that I care.
By the time I got home I had been on the road for nearly eight hours. I averaged about 33/mpg. Having KYBs and larger swaybars was great while I was on the curves. Any other car that I own I would have been in the weeds, but it was not so good for the duration. I was a little nauseous from being pounded all day. It was a great experience but I was glad to get out of the car.
Sorry for the delay, I finally got pictures of the shirts to put up. The shirts are now for sale for $15 shipped to your door, we have the following sizes left:
2 mediums 4 large 5 XL 2 XXL 2 XXXL
You can see pictures in the thread I started in the Mall:
