Well, I've spent the better part of the past 3 weeks (on and off) working in the garage.
First "project" was to install an APC steering wheel I got really cheap on ebay. Not too hard to install at all and looks and feels great!

Next came the driving lights. Which turned into quite an ordeal as it required removal of the front facsia to mount them. However, now I had a serious problem. No turn signals in front! But while browsing the local Murray's Auto store last week I stumbled across some small amber LED marker lights. "Hey these might just work" I thought. I took them home and wired them into the existing signal lamp socket wires so that the LED lights only come on when the turn signals are activated. I wasn't quite sure where to mount them and decided they looked best mounted down on the black lower facsia air dam. The driving lights work great and the amber LED signal lights also work pretty good (they are a little hard to see during daylight but are quite bright at night).

Then came the heavy work.....Complete brake overhaul! The brakes on this car were down right scary since purchasing it last July. It was obvious that the rotors where warped and/or a caliper was frozen based on the horrible shuddering motions of the car under braking. So I ordered some slotted & drilled rotors on ebay and bought some pads from the local Autozone store. Once the rotors arrived the work began. Which resulted in finding the sliders frozen on the front passeger side and the rear passenger side. This could explain why the pads on that side of the car were nothing more than thin wafers and the rivet had actually started scoring into the front rotor. Anyway, after hours of beating the "original" rusted rotors off of the hubs, and cleaning and greasing all of the sliders (and painting the calipers a nice bright red) the parts all went back together. But now I found the brake pedal was going completely to the floor and the brake light would occationally come on. But thanks to Pennock's search function and Ogre's Cave I was able to discover the rear parking brake ajustment and now the brakes work fantastic. Except for the totally rusted out parking brake cables which no longer function and are now mearly decorations and not attached to the lever arm of the caliper.

After tackling the brakes the suspension was due for some freshining up. Thanks to The Fiero Store and their rear KYB strut package and also their front KYB shocks, the 88 coupe now handles the bumps a lot better than it did with the old worn out "stock" units that were happily left for the garbage men last week!
And finally today the coupe was given a new look and feel with a new set of 16" American Racing wheels (Thank You Todd at The Fiero Farm!) and a new set of kelly-Spingfield EVO-Z tires (225/50/16 rear, 205/55/16 front).

She's really starting to come together quite nicely now!

Only a few more updates/upgrades to go now, incuding:
- Loose tilt fix (have all the tools, just need to get brave).
- New dew wipes (have them, just need to install them).
- Diagnose/Fix the warm start/stall problem.
- New paint!
...............................Oh yeah, and that motor swap thing too!!!
Well, maybe next year for the motor swap.
Let's see what everyone else has been up to out there in their garage this spring...................
