Just thought I'd share the happy news. Heres a few teaser pics heres a pic of the antenna, no signal problems that I've noticed with it being inside the car

To mount the antenna in the Roadster we made a small metal bracket and mounted it in the cabin air inlet area after taking out the plastic screen/shield. With that back in, I don't think you'll be able to see it.
A small hole in the area to pass the wire through and that's all you need.

yes, Satallite Radio is great stuff. much better than carrying CD's & downloading MP3's. I havn't got it in my Fiero yet, but, got a docking station at home, work & family car gonna get one one soon tho - just got the car out the garage for the winter last weekend, and already sick of the FM & 12 CD changer....
Satallite Radio is like Cable TV vs Broadcast TV - once you've had cable....

We did the same thing as 88fierocoupe for our trip down to Daytona , picked up just fine laying on the grill on the dash. We didn't need a permanent location , but it's hard to find a good magnetic spot on the Fiero , LOL. Good for a quick temporary trip. Wife bought it for her car , but it did great in the Fiero. Only like 49.99 from Walmart.

What ???????? The antennea does not have to be in line of sight like satallite TV ? Question. What if I have multiple vehicles with permanently mounted satellite ready radios. Can one subscription be used with all of them ? I would think not but I do not like the looks of the "unit". It makes for a cleaner install when it is built into the head unit.

The signal shoots through most fiberglass and plastics with little loss so you can "hide" the antenna to a certain extent. Several users have theirs just mounted in the trunk somwhere with good results. Mine will mostly be shooting through perforated plastic. For Sirius you can add radios at a substantial discount, but one subscription can't be used for multiple radios. I believe XM has a similar policy. I haven't activated my XM radio yet as the roadster isn't finished so I don't know their plans.

You buy additional subs at a discount. I think it's about 50% of a regular sub which is 15 bucks as I currently have one myself That's XM, don't know about Sirius.

Xm offers a discount for more than one radio on a plan. But each individual radio itself has a serial number / ip if you will. It has its own number and you have to call and tell them that number in order for them to activate the service. So unless you want to take out the radio of your car each time you switch vehicles it wont work.

If you live in a major city like Houston they have terrestrial repeaters so you can pick up the signal even if the line of sight is blocked, like when you are in a parking garage. I hooked mine up in my garage and it started working immediately. I drove through several levels of the parking garage at the airport and never lost signal either.

I have 2 XM's, one in Ambers Jeep Cherokee and one in my fiero. Its $13 for the first radio per month and $7 for addtitional ones up to 5 I think. I also have a home kit which I use at work through my DeWalt radio, I just undock my fiero's reciever and bring it in with me. I figured why only listen to it on the 45 min ride to work and home.

I have a Pioneer xm ready supertuner in one of my Fieros. The xm receiver is stashed under the dash where the sub would normally be. Antenna is magnetic attached to the little screens in the middle of the top of the dash. I have a couple of MyFi units, too. Like them better, because they aren't permanently stuck in the car--I spend about $27 a month for subscriptions.
MyFi, compared to earlier units is just brilliant. Works so well. I can receive signals anywhere in my house--goes right through the various layer of the house. Wish the recording feature was more like an Ipod tho.

With all the new small units out, they don't seem to sell the old green / tan antennas anymore though! I pulled my old XM tuner from the old winter car and moved it to the new car, was hoping to get a "cheap" new antenna but found that they're all the "new" style with different plugs. Had to reuse the old one. But by the sounds of ^ ^ everything above ^ ^ the new antennas and radios are much better... My ~3 or 4 year old XM with the old antenna drops out going under bridges, even when it was stuck to the roof. Any way to connect these newer "portable" / swappable ones to an XM ready radio?? I too don't like the "pod" look of the new ones, but would like to have thier reception with my new Pioneer deck... Go XM! LOL For the Fiero I use the same tuner, but I have the roof mount antenna that sticks up in the air. Looks like poop. Nice to know the small ones will work anywhere in the Fiero!
