I'm considering selling my 85 GT. I need to get into a car with some back seats (got separated so now I'm hauling around a 6yr old and 4yr old in my Fiero). The little guy is in the shop right now while they are looking over a high idle problem, but other than that I havent seen anything wrong with the V6 engine. It's an 85, so its a notchie rear clip, but has the GT rounded front clip. Interior needs a little work but I put the leather seats from my old Fiero into this one.

I'm just curious as to what this would go for

I can't deliver Hornet. I'm stuck in the Houston area. In fact, since I can't figure out why this fiero idles so high, I've been driving a car of my bosses. I just feel i need to make that clear on any offers...I have no access to a trailer or anything

How high is your idle? I'm sure you've already done the vacuum leak checking. Timing is set correctly ? besides that the IAC or the infamous idle screw in the TB could be suspect.

I am not a super mechanic, but mine idled extremely high. I had a small leak in the EGR tube. I put muffler patch on it { temporairly}. That slowed it down. I just ordered a new tube from the Fiero Store. 99.95 plus 5 dollars shipping. It wasn't that big of a hole either. Not sure if what it was idling at but the patch cut it in half. It was also loud.

when i couldn't find anything i took it to the shop. they put it on some smoke machine...basically it blows smoke through the vacuum lines and it'll show them where any leaks are. they said it didn't leak :-/ so i'm lost. they still have it and should be checking out a few more things this week.

Has it always idled high or is this a new problem? Also, is does it calm down once it warms up or stays high cold or warm?

I just got the car a few months back from someone. It's idled like this since i've had it. I'll have to find my thread on this. The exhaust manifold pipes glow red hot.
