Well, now that I've gotten my new fiero baby insured, registered and legally titled; it's time to turn thoughts towards updates, improvements and modifications. Dar & Jen have generously offered a pair of Mr. Mike's seats to me on behalf of the PFF family, so now I need some help picking out which ones to get. There are so many styles and colors to choose from, that my head is spinning. LOL So, of course, I thought that you guys could help me out.
The color scheme of the outside paint job is yellow with black accents. (I'm definitely keeping that 'cause the color is soooo cool. LOL)
The interior is still a relatively stock Fiero interior--with the exception of the steering wheel:
I was thinking of changing the color of the carpet to black. What color seats should I go with? I'm thinking something with a contrast to compliment the exterior paint job--like black seats with yellow piping and a yellow Fiero emblem. What do you think?
Suggestions would be much appreciated and pics to demonstrate examples if you have them would be very helpful. hehe
Also, if you could chime in with any information on your experiences with installation of Mr. Mike's seats, (i.e., how difficult; time-consuming; tools needed, etc.) I'd also appreciate that. We're trying to get this done as soon as possible, given that I want to get the seats in time for Daytona.
Thanks in advance! --Tress
------------------ I may not know alot about cars...but I make a Fiero look good!
Go to www.mrmikes.com and click on the Christmas Sale button and look at #'s 0124 & 0149. I think that both would look very good in the Yellow car and still match to the rest of the grey interior and the new black carpet. You could also order something special. I think the Black leather with Yellow piping is BEAUTIFUL and have some my self but I am also changing the complete interior to black with yellow highlights.
I don’t have Mr. Mikes seats but I have custom cloth seats. They are gray with red piping and a strip across the head rest. They look ok but I think the colors contrast each other too much. I plan on pulling them and installing some different seats black or dark gray with black piping. My car is red now and will probably stay that color.
Too bad beach wood is so hard to find. That would look good in your car. My SE has the tan interior and I put in a dark gray dash from an 85. It looks good and helps with the brighter color interior. It also has tan seats.
The new car looks nice, I want to paint my SE yellow in the next year or so. Too many things to do.

I say you should go with the Fiero Vetter Style. Do black with the gray inside. I think it would match the steering wheel and dash nicely. To make it complete, I think you should change the carpet color also.
Here's a example...
Edit: Almost forgot, Do the name in the seats. You know "New Orleans Style.".....LOL

Hey! Songman got a bunch of $100 off coupons for Mr. Mike's for the Coast Run, and he gave the rest of them to us for our Golden Gate Fieros xmas party. They expire Dec 31, but maybe he will make an exception, due to your circumstances? Someone check with him, and let me know.

I kind of like the up-and-over style. You see a lot of light gray/dark gray combinations but not many black & gray. Here's a pic of my black SE with tan interior. Hope this helps. Don

I think black seats with yellow piping would look good but in place of the Fiero symbol how about 2 red squares, one on top of the other, with a smaller black square inside, ya know - hurricane warning.
I was just drooling over the Mr Mikes seat covers. lol I think these would be perfect for your car. It isn't all black, so it would be a nice contrast to the black carpet and with the yellow Fiero decal, that would tie it into your yellow paint.
But that's just my opinion.
So what do you think?

I just installed new Mr. Mikes this week. No problem with the excellent DVD Mr. Mike provides. Almost all you need is included. In addition, you just need spray glue, some hand tools (to take the seat apart) and that's that. Also see this thread for some progress pix: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/054664-3.html
Here my result (new and old seats, also Mr. Mikes from 1998):
Installed pix:
Nice match with the door panels, also Mr. Mikes:

I think there's too many choices! LOL
These look sweet......but so do the ones that yellowstone have in his car.
So I may be leaning towards a lighter color or a two-toned seat as opposed to all black. I'm going to take a look at the choices again and then go sit in the car to see what moves me. hehe
I definitely like the idea of the yellow Fiero emblem on the seats. At least that much is a given.
Yellowstone, I'm gonna check out your site and the videos also. Your interior is sweet as well. I hadn't even considered Mr. Mike's door panels (didn't know you could do that). Sheesh--more options to consider.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

MissTress , I think going with the dark gray leather with yellow piping and emblem would really look nice. Hmmm , come to think of it , that would look nice in my car !!! The black would work , I think , only if you dyed the interior black also.(door panels , dash , console , etc.)

I just called Mike, said "I have a yellow Formula with a grey interior. I want grey seats with the Fiero logo sewn in. Make them look good ..." and left it with him. They came out perfect. The logo is subtle and not overpowering.
I *did* screw Mike up when I said I wanted the seats heated (an option he now no longer offers) .. But otherwise, no problems.
Been out of town and really busy, so haven't had much time to check the site and the suggestions. I'm gonna crash and get some sleep now, but I'll make a decision this weekend and post it here so we can get the ball rolling.
If there are any more suggestions, post 'em this weekend. (Pics are always appreciated. )

Got my new seats and opened them up today! They're really cool!
I'll have to admit that I had no idea that there was so much inside the box. I was a bit unprepared for it all.
Seats and some cotton stuff on the top:
and the rest of the supplies: the DVD of instructions, leather conditioner, packet of tools and spray adhesive:
The seats are shipped inside out so they don't get damaged or scratched:
Here's a peek inside at the colors for the top:
I decided to go with the dark grey Fiero logo instead of the yellow ones to better coordinate with the interior and changed to the GT style. After checking out some additional pictures, I thought that these would fit based on my ideas for the rest of the interior.
and the bottom seats:
It's raining here, so I'll have to wait to install them (can't use the adhesive spray inside the house). I'm really excited!
Thanks again to all who helped me pick these out and to everyone who contributed to the raffle. I'll be sure to post pics of the finished product.
Edit: Whoo-hoo--my 400th post, my birthday and Mr. Mikes seats all on the same day! Life doesn't get any better than this. LOL

You are going to love them! The seats really transform the whole look of the interior. Mr Mike does a great job of making sure you have everything needed to put the covers on. It looks challenging, but if you take your time, and follow along step by step, it's pretty easy (but not as easy as he makes it look in the video )

Looks similar to mine. Just installed them a couple of weeks ago. It was cold that day so I covered them in my living room. Just laid a tarp on the floor and went to work. The adhesive didn't smell that bad and it pretty much goes where you spray it. It took about 2 hours for the 1st seat and an hour for the 2nd. Plus it was easier since the DVD player was living room. Good luck.
