Okay, so this might sound dumb, but I was thinking, if a camaro, and all those other muscle cars can do a wheelie, and they have to lift all the weight of the engine in the front, you'd think a souped up v8 fiero with all the weight in the back must be able too, right? Well does anyone have a fiero that can, or know of any, or pictures/videos of a fiero doing a wheelie? -Mark

I know there is a link to a video in the archives somewhere, in which there is a V8 Fiero that gets its wheels off the ground. I seem to remember the Fiero being from Western Canada....Alberta I think?

That looks to me like he took the front shocks out and just bounced the front wheels up? Yes it does take allot of power, but if it were ALL power the car would have lifted up on the launch. Not get higher and higher each time the wheels hit the ground.

...well, yes he had the front shocks disconnected, but having this in the back also helps (11.52@121mph - 383 V8 w/NOS)
the key on most wheel standers is soft shocks and soft tall springs in the front with a plush rear suspension. the body rocking back gets it started and also applies more weight to the rear wheels for traction..
anybody with a lowered fiero with stiff springs and shocks is not going to be getting the nose in the air without twice as much work

I still dont understand why folks dont believe this. Front engine cars will lift off the ground with the same times and our front end is lighter. Good tires are key here. Nothing like taking flight and having people pull up next to you all excited wanting to know what is in the car. Rick B
Here's a picture of my latest run on 11-13-05 taken by the track photographer and he said it was on the way down when he took it.The run before was 11.477 at 115.89MPH,the run with the picture was 11.460 at 110.77MPH as I was bogging down from running out of gas because I had about 2 gals. in the tank and when the front came down it all rushed to the front of the tank away from the pump pickup in the back of the tank and sloshed back and forth causing the bogging. As you can see it really hurt my top speed and cost me at least 2 tenths second.I have adjustable shocks in the front set on firm to keep the front from coming up and have Held coil overs in back with normal stiffness for a Fiero,I believe he said they are 380lb springs. The car don't just drop down,it just comes down real easy in about 50 feet as the RPM'S go up and the torque goes down.I'm making some changes now and hope to be in the 10's next spring.Went on the Hot Rod power tour this year with it and averaged 22.8 miles per gal over a total of 3000 miles.Yes, it has air conditiong and I still have the EGR valve, boost solenoid, cat converter, and will have after the changes.
