Personalized county license plates may consist of up to seven characters and numbers. Motorcycle and small trailers are limited to six characters. All personalized plate choices must have at least two characters.
No punctuation marks are allowed. No denoting a government agency (i.e., DOT ). No display of characters which are sexual in connotation. No characters suggesting profane, obscene or inflammatory words or phrases, or those contrary to public policy. No characters or words defined in dictionaries as a term of vulgarity, contempt, prejudice, hostility, insult, or racial or ethnic degradation. No characters considered to be offensive. No characters that conflict with the regular license numbering system. Any foreign word falling in any of these categories.
You guys have it great, at $5 per year fee. Texas charges $40 per year for 6 characters laser printed on a plain white background, it's a ripoff but I pay it anyway. Here's my suggestion

this is from VW Vortex.. he says its not photoshopped, but i couldnt immagine someone having this on their car and staying alive in NY
New York has an on-line lookup system and it says that plate is not available. If I change the "Z" to an "S" it's available and asks me if I want to order it. It could be real? I suppose the person checking this one didn't understand the meaning?

My Camaro has CAR FREK My Red 88 GT will have ATMK M8R when I get the 3800SC installed. I've named it the Atomic Tomato in case you're scratching your head on that one. I pondered changing my Camaro plates after I wrecked it last year. Thought of 2HLNBAK and POL KLLR. I took down a concrete light pole and a fire hydrant at our 11/2004 autocross event.

I was just talking to Fiero MOJo the other day about this subject. Back in the 80's I had a sign shop in West Michigan and we made custom plates. I realize you are talking about state issued plates but we made custom plates with designs. I promised Mo Jo I would make him one as he has digital means of posting a picture. I made a mold with the Fiero emblem on the left with the stripes of the American flag extending to it's right. These would best be shown at a show as Identification or placing it in the rear window. MoJo thought that might be best as no one wants to drill mounting hole in the front end of their dream car. I hesitate making them with our Username as some are too long. A large GT or SE or 84, 85, 86 ,86,88, would fit. The plastic is 18 mil thick Background is white, though I have tried painting the background before vacuum forming. We are talking 20 years since I made these and the people that made the die-cast lettering are no longer around. I have one source in Oregon that I have contacted but I haven'heard anything yet. Forgot to mention that the mold I made, the field of stars is taken over by the Fiero emblem. If that sounds disrespectful to anyone let me know. I have seen the post office do similar things .So Buger57 if you could send me a mailing address I will send you something. The actual Frame that goes around the plate will be purchased by you as they { auto supply stores} hsve many to choose from ranging in price from 5 to 20 bucks. I still intend to send Mo Jo his. Probably the more samples I have the better.

wanted to add something else. If a person used the GT< SE or year number the logo itself would be used without the flag.. There isn't much room as you only have a small space to work with. The actual letters that I use are 2 inches I believe{ without going out in the garage and checking}

rearranged mold and flag so that 99% of stars show. It just cut down on the space on either side for lettering. Kinda hard to explain without pictures. I'm thinking eight buck plus Shipping which would probably be U>S> mail, first class, and that would be around four bucks I would think. Just a thought you guys. Won't proceed too much further unless there is favorable i interest. Thanks Cliff

Here's a secret : in most states, a rudimentary "dirty word edit" is run against the obvious culprits, but NO ONE looks at them to apply human logic to the possible offensiveness of the plate. We simply sit back and wait for someone to file a complaint, then we take the plate away from you; keep your fee; give you no mechanism for appeal; and (rarely) fine you for wasting the state's time.
