I just noticed some the 17" factory wheels on a PT cruiser and i think they would look great on a Fiero. I just was wondering if anybody has pictures of them on a Fiero before i buy some. The ones im talking about are the ones like these.

I can't help you with those wheels, but I did consider the 17" polished Dream Cruiser wheels on my GT:

I decided against them because they only came in a narrow width like 6 inches or something like that.

On a 6 inch wheel you can put atleast a 205 on it, judging from the fact that the stock 88 GT wheels were 205s up front on 15x6 wheels.

Wait i have either 235's or 245 on a pair of stock 14x6" wheels. So i guess i don't need to ask that question. But i'd still like to see some pics, if anybody could help me out.

Here's a pic I took of a GT at the Heartland Club's second annual car show on August 20th 2005.

The owner's name escapes me, (sorry), but he said these are PT Cruiser wheels he got off Ebay.

The reason that wide of a tire can fit (although it's not recommended) is because it has a taller aspect ratio. I'm guessing it's a 60 on those 14s you have. On a 17" wheel, you're going to have a 45 of 50 aspect ratio. That means the sidewall is going to be shorter, and not allow as much flexibility (no pun intended) in your tire widths. With that said, I think 205 is as wide as you'd want to go on a 17x6" wheel.

I find that my rims look similar to those PT Cruiser ones. 17" Eagle Alloys #192.

Depends on the aspect ratio. Generally, lower profile tires are more sensitive to a specific width, and will have a narrower recommended rim width range.

I have had 215/40/16 tires on a 6" wide rim, and they seemed to work, just fine. However, I probably would not do that again as it was too hard on the sidewalls. Nevertheless, a 225/50/16 will fit just fine, and the overall diameter of the tire will be close to the stock 15" Fiero rear tire. For an example, see: http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_specsheet.cfm?id=1

You could easily mount a 275/75/16 tire on 6" wide rim, but it would be way too tall for a Fiero.

Here's mine. These are the 17" chromies that were on the 03, 04 GTs. I've had tons of compliments on them.

Edited to add that I'm running a taller sidewall tire now on the back (225/55) now, so it fills out the wheel well better. Only draw backs on these rims is that they are kinda heavy and 6"s wide, which limits you in tire size choice.

2nd edit to mention that in order to run the 225/55s on the back, i had to trim a little off the bottom plate of the strut to accomadate the PT offset. Not a big deal though.

I have the 16 inch cruiser wheels on mine. They get lots of compliments too. They say "American Racing" on the stickers.
