Got this installed on the SSEiGT by Rickady88GT, and I absolutely love it. The idea was born of a little Amber Bock, and a whole lot of hard work by Rick on more than one late afternoon.
We debuted it at the coast run to what I'd think was a very receptive crowd. I really like the lines of the scoops - it's subtle and doesn’t scream at you when you look at the car. Pushing the wing back 2" really sets it off IMO...
Belive it or not, that's a rattle can paint job there on the decklid!
Enough with the chatter....

Where they are is beyond me - for the moment I’m going to have to say that they are officially a "one off."
They do look good indeed! You told me that they were rattle can a few weeks ago when I was at your house. I couldn't believe it then and I couldn't believe it at the Coast Run. Someone paints better with a rattle can than some painters I have seen with a full body shop! Great looking scoops (and car)! Good work guys!
Thanks Allen for the comments. And thanks to everybody else for the compiments.
Does it acualy vent? I cant say for sure but it has potential. Allen says that when he lifts up the lid he feels less heat come out from under it. I cut out allot of deck lid for venting.
You can see the holes for the wing. I filled the front two and redrilled the new holes to set the wing back about two inches back.
Yes even the primer is out of a can

Man i love it when somebody does something a little different !
About the only thing i would change would be to raise the wing a little so that you can show them off.
I think it looks good with the wing, but it needs to be raised so that they are not hidden. That and i just think, raised, it would look better too IMO.

I can't believe I am just seeing this thread, and those vents. Those look almost exactly like the ones I have thought of doing to my car when it gets to that point. It looks Awesome. Nice job.
<doh....now my orig idea is gonna look like a copy...hehe>

It looks great, but isn't the air moving forward over the decklid at that point? That could hinder engine compartment venting. Looks really awesome, though!!

The idea for the vents came from a vent opening/screen Allen showed up with one day from the wrecking yard. It was a hood vent from an 80's Firebird. They called it a "Power Bulge". Funny thing was that Songman had done the same thing and asked me if it would work on the deck lid of a Fiero? Turns out that the opening is taller on one side than the other, so no it could not work. That was not the answer Allen wanted to hear so we came up with an idea that would put two smaller vents on the deck lid rather than one larger one like a Mustang vent.
I used a universal Black from the auto paint section at Pep Boys. The primer came from the same place. Then I put a clear on it to (also from a can)
Thanks for the positive comments. I did not really think about doing more than one of them. After Allen posted pics of it, the response was "modest" so I did not think it was worth splashing.

The 3rd gen Trans Am "power bulge" was one of my idea's for doing a hood scoop for the front. But as you noted, The scoop face isn't symetrical between the left and right side.

I bet the "modest" response would go up to "really interested" if you if you were agreeable to reproducing this. I'll send my deposit right now if you will. I think this would really be impressive wingless with the Corvette tail light panel. Will you make me one??? Harry

I will look into making a mold for it? If that is OK with Allen. I have no idea how much it would cost or how long it would take but if people want them I think it would be worth a try
Great! If you do this, please drop me an e-mail at frbrepo@aol.com. I'm not on the forum that often and may miss any future messages from you. Many thanks. Harry

If anyone's curious(not threadjacking)...asymetrical but simialr shaped version, a bit higher. excuse the mess, a very windy day threw the lid upside down and messed things up

I can't get over how nice that is. What kind of rattle can paint is that? and where did you get it from?
