I'm having a really hard time deciding which color to paint my 86 GT.

Every other vehicle I own is either black or white. Thought I'd bust out and do red on this one, but I really like black too.

Anybody have compelling arguments either way ?

Thanks for any comments,

Like the pic above, have both colors on there, it'd be very unique

I like that but I tend to stick with minimalistic styling. It's going to be *all* red or *all* black, trim and everything.

Like those wheels though .. which are those ?

Ya know, there is a thing called psychology of color. Fast food restaraunts usually use red as a dining room color to speed up changover in seat availability. Red is considered a fast color and does get a cops attention more.
Then again, black is hard to keep looking clean.

47% of all Fieros made - all years, all models - were red from the factory. 47%.

That's why I'm eventually going to paint mine yellow. I'm sooooooooooooooooooo tired of owning red cars.

Wow, interesting. I knew I was not normal. I have five, three black, one silver, and one red. Do you know the percentages of the other colors ?

Not sure at the moment of the percentages for each color - I'd just looked up and calculated the red ones since I see so many red ones all the time.

I can't remember if I figured the percentage from information listed in the Fiero Spotter's Guide or the new NIFE booklet...

Now that's the kind of thing that helps me make a decision. I'm pretty sure I don't want to be part of 47%. Unique is why I even bought this car.

So now I'm leaning toward black, which is what color the car is now.

Thanks a bunch !

I like keeping a car spotless if possible. To do that with a black car means several washes a day....so Ill never own a black car.

I have a black fiero and if i had to choose between red or keeping my car black, i would definitely go red. Some cars look good in black and others don't. I personally like the fiero's in brighter colors such as red, yellow, blue, etc.

Mix it up. Here's mine with a painted (Starsky & Hutch inspired) metalic black stripe.

Wow someone repainting their fiero yellow, I' ve only seen that about a million times. Yes fieros look good in yellow but everyone does it. Notchbacks look great in black, fastbacks less so. I'd try a deep metallic red or blue.

I say go with black. You can never go wrong with black. It does take alot more to keep them clean, but when you get a black car spotless do they ever look good. Oh and red paint costs more money than black paint.

I'm not painting it to please anybody but myself, but thanks for your opinion just the same... after you drive a quarter-million miles in nothing but red Fieros, then perhaps you'll feel differently.

Bonzo, is that photoshopped? That "starsky & hutch " inspired paint job would look awesome

I like a single colour on the Fiero, it's too small to paint dual coloured and have graphics on, makes it look too fussy and cluttered.

Keep it clean and simple!

And this will be post 200 for me!

No. It is a base coat clear coat over Viper Red. Here is another angle.

Red & Black inside & out
