I bought a fiero a month ago and I was also moving at the same time. Well my new wife shredded a old pile of papers and guess what was in there. I tried to call the guy I bought it from, well he moved cant find him. Does anyone have any idea how I can get a new title in my name? I never had the chance to put it in my name or esle I would file for lost title. The only thing I have is a bill of sale. Please any ideas will get you an A+.

Youc will have to have the original owner (the guy you bought the car from) apply for a new title and then get it in your name....without the car ever being in your name i don't know if they will take a bill of sale. if that was the case you would have to get a notorised bill of sale and that will have to have the original owners signature on it...
i am also having trouble with a title problem. i just bought my ttop fiero from an owner who never had it put in their name and the title is signed 7-10-04 so i changed the 04 to and 05 and now the dmv i went to said it is a mutalated title and they won't do anything with it or even process it because of the change. so i have to find a way around it.....i think i will just try a different person there and it will go through i think the lady was just being a bìtch

You should be able to get a title with just the bill of sale, but if DMV wants to be a pain you can take the car to highway patrol and get it retitled ( warning, it may be a salvage title ). If all else fails you could go to a mechanic you know and get a mechanics lean on the car, then "buy" the car from him, and bingo you have a title. Brad

The laws are different in every state, The best advise is to talk to your Department of Motor Vehicles or someone in your state familiar with the laws. Be careful, in Texas filing for a lost title in someone elses name is a felony, and there is no way to get a title with just a bill of sale.
If the car is worth it, then the the best deal is:
