I bought some MrMikes lower door panels and am in the process of installing them. I would like to get some leather door pockets but MrMike does not make them anymore. I have conscidered reattaching the ones I already have like they are. Another other option is to have them done locally. Another is to not have them at all. Finally, are there any modern cars that have door pockets that would look as good or better that bolt on?

Keep them?

Leave them off?

I don't know what would look the best.

How they attach if you are interested. Six washer thin nuts on the back side that you can't really get a tool to grip on to. It is officially in the, "Harder than it needs to be category".

Just a thought, you can remove them and install a set of speakers.

Wow speakers are a great idea, can that be done on a door with pre-existing door pockets without leaving old door pocket mounting holes to look unsightly?

DITTO, what he said. I would paint some vinyl pockets. I couldn't be without pockets in a stock Fiero. In in the Firebird interior Fiero where I have a center console I like having the door pockets, (and they are a lot bigger than stock Fiero pockets.).

We recently put new carpet on our door panels. We used net map pockets from a BMW. We used black carpet and the net pockets are black. They turned out real nice.

Ed, please post a photo.

Russ, that would be true if I possessed a nut driver. I wouldn't have even known what to ask for until your reply.

What do you all think about using the pockets like the are? Would look bad or wrongn?

I don't know. Is everything else (seats) Mr. Mikes? I would think if that is the only cloth, it would look a bit out of place. I like the vynil map pocket idea.

I have seen cases where the nuts are inverted and all you have sticking up are smooth round washers.

It's handy to have the pockets, but if you're going to show the car, I'd probably skip the pockets and shoot for the clean look. Door speakers would be nice also if they're done well. So my vote would be 1) skip the pockets 2) install speakers 3) door pockets. You could also have a local upholster shop make a set for you, maybe have a custom expanding set made possibly with a flap that folds over with Velcro to keep it clean and sharper looking.

I think that I will leave them off for now. I really don't want to put painted vynal into the car since I have gone through the expense to make everything leather. I may try to have them recovered in leather locally.

Yellowstone, could you take some close up photos of your door pockets? I would like to see how they are stitched.

The speaker idea is good. I would have to get a new radio to go with them. I still have the factory stock unit.

Take them off and add speakers in pods.

The map pockets belong here. That way nothing falls out and gets lost on the ground. They are sort of hidden behind the seat so are not too obvious for crooks.

Behind the seat is a novel idea, but my seat is jammed up against the firewall as far as it will go. That pocket would be squished like nobodies buisiness.

I agree 100% I like the more moder pocket, though it seems it shoud be called something else but I can't think what. And the pods that Aus posted are exactly what I was thinking of. Thanks for saving me having to do a search.
