I have been working with this airdam on my bumperpad nose.

I love the look but was not real happy with the fit. It had a smal gap between the dam and the bumber/front fender.

I removed the nose and glassed it in.

My question is, Some of you guys have been saying to paint the pads red. What do think? Could someone photochop the pads red (not the trim, I can't handle that much red.) I am going to be painting it this weekend and need to decide.

it looks pretty cool, Im not the biggest fan of the bumper pad nose but it does look good on mods like that.

Kind of looks like the mid 80s MR2 nose now.

deffinally leave the pads Black gives it that much more contrast
maybe if you were to shave the pads off that might be different, difficult, but definally different
+ for your good work

Thanx for the photoshop Bobadoo.
I think I will leave them black. Can you do a photoshop of the inside of the blinker hole red and leave the pad black?

I vote paint them red. Monochrome looks more modern, and the bumperpads aren't really bumper pads they are just raised areas molded into the bumper. If they were actual rubber pads then I would say paint them black.

By the way did you use fiberglass or flexible bumper repair material to "glass" in the chin spoiler? I'm a little worried if you used glass that it's going to crack the first time you go in a steep driveway.

I usually don't like the black bumper pads, but with the way your nose is I would leave them black. With the way you did the air dam that nose looks great.

You should do something to match the lines on the rear fascia.

I did these real quick..

This is with Dark red bumperpads and the mouth painted black.

This is dark red bumperpads, mouth painted black, winshield wipers painted black, and gunmetal lower body to take your eyes off the big front and little back, and gunmetal painted centers on your wheels.

Looks awsome man. You along with hyper V6 have the best looking bumperpads out there. I vote to leave them black and put a 3800sc in the back.

As a fellow bumper pad notchie owner I too have thought of the fiero warehouse front lip kit. You did an excelent job on fiberglassing the lip kit in. I never liked how the lip kit didn't conform to the nose, but you fixed that problem. Good job!!

I still may swap my bumpers to the gt. But I will keep this thread in mind

We want to get a lot of people from this area to join so we can have a couple big car shows every summer. its at www.engineeredinsanity.com (the more people we get the bigger discounts we should be able to get on wheels, performance mods, etc...)

and now back on topic-

You do some good work!
They look better black imho.
Some black mesh in the opening would really look nice, and tie in the back trim and bumperpads.

I did. I installed a Kamei rear kit. That pic is about a month old. It was the best pic I had of the nose. Here's a pic of my new rear. After Daytona I plan on glassing that in too.

I don't know how to quote more than 1 quote. That's why I have post after post. I came home frome school and work and seen all these posts. Thanx for all the input. It's clinched! The pad will stay black.

Looks like you did a really good job smoothing that front piece in. The back will look nice blended in, as well. I'm glad you got that piece for the back. It helps balance out the look.
I think you should paint the "bumperpads" to match. It makes it look more modern. Having the trim black looks really good, though.
Anyway, nice Fiero you got!

Edit to add:
See the side picture you have? Doesn't it look really good with just the black trim? (I know you can't see the front or back "bumperpads" but as an overall visual of just having the trim black, and the rest of it red.) The bumperpads being black just stand out too much, IMO.

Looks like I'm going to have to learn how to work with fiberglass. I've been looking for something to do with my front end and you've convinced me that this is the way to go. I have an '85 GT Notchback and I've spent a lot of time looking for just the right look, I'm not a big fan of the GT front ends. You've done something that I really like which is to give the front a unique look that is undoubtedly Fiero. Not knock off of something else but something that complements what Fiero has already done. I may have missed it somewhere here in the post, but where did you get the airdam from? By the way, I'd go with the black pads, I've always liked that look. Besides, keep it unique- like some might point out, going uni-color may make it look more modern but going black will keep them distinctive.

The Fierowarehouse. Go to fiberglass parts. They have 2 types. I had originally bought the one with fog light cutouts but it didn't fit good. I returned it and got the one without.
Here's the link. If you have any questions on the install just PM me.

Wow thats one bad notchie! I must say, im not even a fan of the bumper pad but thats a nice lookin ride. I think a red indy scoop would look sweet on that, imo! But as for the bumper pads, hmm maybe u could cut em off and glass that smooth and just keep the turn signal, and get one of those black turn signal covers that some guys have on there cars and put those on it to add some contrast to teh front?! Anyway keep the good work up its lookin really sweet!

Thanx for the input but I am a pad fan.
This being an 84 and what the Fiero look really came from I can't change that. The 84 Bumperpad Notchie is the Father to all Fieros. I am now more convinced in leaving them black.
