It has been awhile since there was an up date my countdown to Daytona is ongoing a complete make over inside out ,among some of the things done are fleck stoneing the center panel and speaker enclosure that was made from the original glove box. new head unit Recovered door panel
New 325 lb coilover springs replacing the drag racing springs in addition to this I will be replacing the current motor with a new radical 4.9/ (5.1) motor that is fuel injected and carburated and nos burning (thanks to Smokey Yunick America's greatest mechanic and engine builder ) and should be turning out close to 435+ horse power if every thing holds up as planned this I will start some time in December so I will keep you posted with info and pics .

As the time draws by to replace the engine that is currently in the car I am still putting parts together needed by the new 5.1litre V8 Caddie motor ,in preparing for the swap I had to make wiring changes for the new autometer guages Nos pressure and fuel pressure and oil temperature so I can know hat is going on in the engine bay. The above 94 master cylinder was replaced with a 82 Corvette master cylinder because of complication (different size lines ) for one with non built in proportioning valve that needed no modification what so ever I am also installing a Willwood adjustable proportioning valve after the new master cylinder.
The concept for this motor is a little different than usual as it will have a carb and fuel injection for fuel delivery and should see about 435 plus hp when fully tuned on 93 octane fuel also looking at alchohol injection being the power junkie I am but will keep every one updated on the progress with install pics .

The car is normally carburated for regular driving but when extra power is needed (POD power on demand )the fuel injection system is activated and fed with a 200hp nitrous shot at wot and is controlled by a Jacobs mastermind computer.

Just thought I'd give an update on my project which has been on a stand still for awhile ,I have not done any major work to speak but have made a few changes to some small issues: Push button starter button (using the rear heater switch) Redoing the fuel lines with larger steel braided hose from the tank sump, Installed a facet lift pump to uplift the gas from the tank to the secondary Holley .(now running 2 pumps.) Wired up 3 extra Autometer guages to monitor the new engine that will be going in later this month.
The 5.1 motor was built awhile back and I was undecided as to what to do with it until now where it sit for some unsuspecting motorist ,I had done a mild porting job but will take the heads off and go all out to match the rest of the bottom end also will be going to a 750cfm Demon double pumper carb jetted down and I am looking to run somewhere in the vicinity of 11.5 to 11.2 sec in the quarter mile .The 4.5 that is presently in the car has only 500 plus mile on it since the rebuild and is going up for sale as a complete drop in unit all except the pistons (forged) will be replaced with the stock ones also it will not come with the manual flywheel that is custom made for this engine .Will keep you guys posted and will post pics in a few weeks . I got a power steering rack from a 1997 Firebird that I will be installing real soon after the rest of parts comes in .

Well come next week I am going to start working on it again and hoping it will be finally completed for the end of the year barring me not adding any thing new but I am very satisfied with all the little mods that I have done to it so far but no more mods just complete it I am presently shaving in the door handles to install a sloenoid and popper but I will take pics after it is completed in the mean time my computer is hijacked up and I have to take it to have it repaired at Best Buy since all effort to repair it has been useless.

Well here is the latest info on my ultimate rebuild to transform my car from a regular car to an exotic modern sports car , over the last few weeks here is a list of things I have done: Shaved the door handles completely Install electric door openers and popper Push button starting switch Wide body kit installed I did order some leather Ferrari style seats that I was supposed to have but they were mistakenly sold so I have to wait 45 days for replacement and also got some 360 Modena exhaust black chromed oval tips to round it off in the rear . Remove the 4.5 engine and will replace it with a 5.1 performance motor I still have a lot of work to do also pics to add but got to get some batteries for the digital to make this possible stay tuned also since I have installed the wide body kit (Madcurl) I will have to get a new set of wheels I am looking to go 305-40-19 in the back and 18" in the front but the problem is the 5x 100 bolt pattern that limits my selection unless I want to go big $$$ so I am looking into changing bolt patterns to 5x 4 1/2" instead.

I have been talking with this company in my quest to get better flow into the 4.9 and SBC carburated motors and lookig at the results it is just what the doctor ordered so I placed an order of 2 for addition on my new projectand hopefull they will be in this week.My aim is to get 450 reliable street driven and hp and being an engine builder I was skeptical but after I got the dynocharts that convinced me to give it a try

Well this is the final piece I got for for my 5.1 Caddy install and yes it is a 4 barrel 750 double pumper Holley just what the doctor ordered and with the new design big valve heads also fly cutting the pistons .There is a lot of new power additions to this motor than the previous and all details like arp fasteners and braided lines are being addressed based on past experience because of the power level I am aiming for so I hope it will stay together.

Well, I see this thread will be one of my favorites, hehehe. Bump!
Hey M.T.A., what size rims do you have planned for the puppy? I re-read the thread but couldn't find it. From the looks of it. your're fender flares are about as wide as #15 or wider?
I see that the back side is too---widened out near the bottom. Good job. I like the smoothness of the rear lip where the Camero wing tips end and where the upper side rear clip start (by the rear lights) began. IMO it looks better than the PPG concept car.
I love the "flow" where the fender flare meets the upper area by the sail window. It's a spectacular site to see once you get in your car and view it with the side view mirrors. I like the side mirrors too. The side vents remind me of the Fiero concept car at the 20th. I look forward to future pics. Please keep us updated.

don't take this as a flame... but how exactly are you planning to get a 4.9(5.1) to make 450 streetable horsepower? Looks like your going to overcarb the engine with too big of a carb, and add NOS. I'm confused as to what the extreme velocity and ATI hats are all about that you put dyno charts up for. I can't imagine any relationship between a built 351 (5.4L) ford and a 4.9L cadillac engine. The Cadillac engine won't support the flow needed or turn the rpms from anything I've seen in the past, and I don't see one living long on nitrous due to the stock rpm range being below where it's safe to run nitrous. Most nitrous motors don't fire until they get over 3000rpm, since the torque levels get dangerously high below there, although you may be able to control that the electronics your adding.
Can you detail out a bit what rpm your shooting for and how your going to get the engine to flow at those levels and not fly apart?

replying to myself, I'm assuming this isn't going to be a cheap build. Are you making a custom intake, using an adapter plate or modifying the stock intake to mount that holley carb? Are you planning on modifying the head seal with o-rings? Changing to a higher rpm range with a cam swap? Porting the heads along with valve work?
I like the 4.9, it's a torque monster that can pull along 5klb. cadillacs with ease, just wondering what your actually planning to turn it from a low rpm torque monster to a high horsepower engine.

Hey Scott in answer to your questions above and thanks for inquiring but with out getting into too much details and turning this into a flame war about what can and why it is already built but had to do some modification and the motor is not stock and it is costly but I enjoy the challenge of making these motor perform, yes the cam is different, the head has been ported and remachined to accept bigger valves, the pistons are custom from JE piston ($700 a set) liners over bored, balanced rotating assembly also line bored and held in place with ARP fasteners. The intake has been modified by me and reworked to run the 750cfm carb so the whole thing has been carefully addressed .In my 25 years of building engines I have used many methods on my different projects and they all depends on how much you want to invest to go fast and just getting a stock 4.9 and installing it in the fiero and expect to go fast is not my cup of tea but then to each his own I will keep posting as I get further along.

Yes curly the mirrors are on the door and swing out but it is mounted on a sturdy steel bracket to hold it in place ,I used the trim from the Fiero for a base the original hole for the mirror is glassed in later

Curly they are 18" all around but since I have added the wide body kit they are of no use as I am going with a 19/18 stagger and especially with all that space in the back I am looking into 315/325x40x 19 by what ever width that fits under there . Update:the motor has been put together and waiting to be installed in the car and it sure looks and feel different with the new configuration and extras that went into this motor .I only have the power steering pump to fit in the original caddy location or the opposite engine side of the a/c compressor but will deal with it tomorrow so will have to wait another day also my new Corvette kit goes on tomorrow and some more welding to reinforce the cradel that it will be handling from the new motor.
Damn nice looking car, now STOP IT, your giving me ideas I don't need right now. J/K keep up the good work.
Is that my old sunroof glass on that car?

Hey didn't recognize the user name ...yes it is the same sun roof set up....small world thanks again I want to stop modding and finish the car but that little light pops on in my head and I add some thing new .Just building a modern sports car with all the creature comfort, performance and style of a modern car and I am at the point of no return too late to turn back now ....later got to run.
still have a few things to do replace stock rockers with rollers rockers from Summit racing but this is how it looks bet you guys never noticed there is only 1 fuel inlet for the injectors also the 750 cfm carburetor

MTA sorry about the confussion. I had Cliff make my old ID unuseable because I was on here to much, go figure. So when I created a new ID, I just decided to use my name instead of which car I had, since I have 3 Fieros now. I just couldn't stay away.

I think I know what the 1 inlet for the injectors and the carb is for That's one of hte reasons I never wanted to plug my injector holes on mine... Hehehe

The drama continues : here is the gas tank sump where it feeds a Holley pump the other bung is for a Walbro inline pump to feed the injectors .
I decided to use the 12" Corvette brakes instead of the 13" HD
Test fitting the hub and adapter.
Adapter mounted
These are the steel adapters that my machine shop fabbed up for me I also have 6 sets as spares but I will have to talk to Bubbajoe since it was his design and if it is ok with him then I might sell them.....later

I don't know much about anything but that dyno chart looks skewed by 300RPM to make the results look better. I have no idea what the product is but the fact that both curves have the same characteristic points makes me suspicious... they just start in different places.
