Well I never knew they had dyes for this kind of fabric. My dad told me about it today after talking to his friend I was like hmm, I'll give it a shot nice results I was tired of the faded grey almost blue look they had. If I was thinking I would've nabbed some before shots, oh well. I've been on an interior kick lately thinking what I can change
I'm kind of new to this stuff so it's kind of cool.
parts stores have it, i did mine when i diod the rest of my interior, i also used the fabric dye on my carpet, (both floor, and door pannels, and i used red on the map pocket im extremely impressed at how well its holding up i did get a little rub mark on the carpet but just hit it again and looks good as new!! if it wasnt for my seats my interior would be a 9 outa 10, im verry impressed at the turn out for such a quick job, the rest of the interior was done in gloss black vynal dye, if i were to do it again i think a matte black would be a better choice, the shine can be annoying, its like super glossy armor all that never fades

They started off dark gray and sun bleach to the blue color. I dyed mine too by using Dupli-Color brand dark gray dye. Wal-Mart sells it for about 3 bux. I dyed these about 6 month's ago and may have put on too many coats. The fabric is beginning to wave similar to what headliners do.
Remember to shoot the dye at a low angle to get full coverage.

Here's what I did to mine...I had some leftover headliner fabric (the foam backed stuff) that I cut about 1/2 inch larger than the speaker grill and I tucked it under the grill with a credit card. It fits tight and looks a lot better than the faded cloth. Sorry...don't have pictures, but can get them if anyone is interested.

I looked into having spray paint made to match the stock speaker covers years ago. I had been working with a paint company on color matching, can size etc. I then attended a Fiero show and happened to talk to some one that has done a few with spray paint. He (and several others) told me they had seen the material get loose on humid mornings after they are painted. This seems to always go away as it warms up later in the morning. I decided not to offer a spray paint for that reason. You can paint your grill covers with a vinyl paint but in some instances at certain times of the day you may see them look loose.

hmm that indeed I might pull the cloth and try to find some black stuff that look is rather annoying, not sure where I would go to find it though. The loose cloth look that is.

I was jsut gonna say that. Wetsand them a big before paint and they come out really nice. I wouldnt want to paint the cloth, I would be afraid of the extra build up would hurt sound quality.

I went to a stereo shop and bought a 1/2 yard of acoustic speaker cloth in black. Cost me about $4.50 and it is UV protected. Guy in the store told me it would never fade. Five years later they still look like new. And that 1/2 yard left me with enough material to do another set if I need too.
