It never turns out as you hope, try using a transparent paint. We used to spray cheap Mr. Gasket chrome parts years ago for a different look that last alot longer.

I had the thread on it a couple weeks ago. I wasnt satisfied at all with it. You would be much better off shooting your parts with silver base and real Kandy colors. Lot more durable, looks a lot more even. I did the blue, it turned out bad, really only looked like blue paint to me.
I tried it on some polished peices of aluminum sheetmetal and it actually looked ok. The bad side is you have to have the patience of a monk when applying it. Has to be even coat and a run will stick out like a sore thumb. After a few practice sprays i was able to get a decent finish, but like every one else said it's not durable and i'm not sure if it'll take engine bay temps.

we used the silver and gold on an engine we built, but it looked like regular silver and gold gpray paint, nothing cpesial. we thought it would look chrome, we were dissapointed.

The first problem is that you definitely cannot touch it up. If there is a flaw in the finish you have to strip and start again.
It is also not a strong finish. It marks fairly easily. Again, it cannot be re-coated or touched up successfully.
You have to strip and re-do it to do a repair.
The second problem is the prep. You have to have the metal clean because colour differents in the base will show through. Arn
thanks for the specifics on prep. I'm painting some small trim peices (plastic) with the yellow 'anodized' look since I think a lot would be tacky. (using Krylon Fusor on other interior parts) Guess I'll be clear coating these parts as well. The clear coating worked alright when I used 'bumper chrome' on my other Fiero interior after I hand polished the finish.

Prep Isnt That Hard....Just Use The Base Coat First..If You Dont Use The Basecoat It Looks Like Crapola

I think the paint comes off pretty well if the base is very clean and you use Duplicolor's basecoat underneath it. It does get very hard, though, and a clear coat over it will give it even more depth. It has a tendency to chip if hit with something or when tightening bolts against it. I haven't tried anything other than the red, so you're on your own with other colors.
