I stopped by a junkyard today where they had a few 4 cylinder coupes, a 4 cylinder with the 85 GT body, and a regular 85 GT with V6. They were all trashed inside from sitting with the windows and doors open. Most of the body panels were in pretty good shape. I needed a inner fender well and a headliner, but only came home with the inner fender well. The headliner broke as the guy was removing it. Anyway, one of the notchbacks with the Aero nose had T-tops on it. When I saw it, my heart started racing and as I went closer to look, I noticed the passenger side top was missing. I asked the guy how much he wanted for the driver's side t-top, and he quoted 50 bucks. My question is: How much would it be worth, and should I go back with a sawsall and cut off the whole top?

If the weather seals are in good shape, I'm interested.

I would be interested in the "H" frame if you are interested in cutting it out.

Make sure you grab the VIN for the T-Top Registry, the database and FieroJohn.

I looked at the A-pillar cap where the passenger top was missing. It was in pretty bad shape. I assume the seals won't be that great, but I think I can go back tomorrow and get the whole top. If I get the whole thing for 100-200 bucks, will there be a buyer willing to pay me for it? I'm not looking to make money, but don't want to loose my shirt either. The guy that worked at the yard told me he wanted 50 bucks for the glass because he knew they weren't very common. I tried to talk him down to no avail.

If you have room to store it, get it. While I'm not in the market for one, folks on here here do buy them and install them on their cars. Also, there's been a couple threads on folks installing them on their cars. Just make sure you get the entire H-frame, and all hardware. Most folks remove the front windshield and cut them off at the windshield base. Cut a few inches below the B-pillar. If you can locate the missing t-top (on E-bay), it will be worth more and make it easier to sell.

Hey, if you decide not to pick it up let me know which junkyard and I'll go get it. But it definately all needs to be saved, not just the glass.
