Alright, this is kind of a dumb question, but can the length, and shape of an exhaust tip change the over-all sound of the exhaust at all?

I doubt length makes a difference, but would imagine shape might alter the sound at least slightly. I will leave this to the experts, however - looking forward to seeing the replies.

Not a stupid question!

Edit: I had a witty comment about different lengths producing different sounds from my girlfriend but deemed it inappropriate. =P

Yes. Longer pipes will make for a slightly deeper tone, and the shape of tips makes a difference in how loud it is. All in all, though, the effects are minimal. If you want to change the sound, change/lose the CAT and/or muffler.

I would think the smaller the opening the quieter the sound, and the larger the opening the louder the sound. I've seen some muffler/exhaust tips that you can adjust the opening if you had it smaller it said it made it a "silencer". But not sure on length.
