I have had alot of request for 2 updates on my current low mount solution for 3800SC Series II engines. One, people want to use the 3800SC alternator, and 2, they want to use a spring tensioner to hold the belt in place.

Old mount

New mount.

The old low mount will still be the mount for those who buy 96-98 engines, or want to use the Fiero 6 oclock 12 oclock Alts.

The new low mount solution will be for those that buy 1999-04 Series II or Series III engines. The alt in the picture of the new setup is a 2004 alternator with a nice feature that most of the Grand Prix owners donot know even exist. The alt has a one-way bearing. Meaning it will spin up in RPM, but when you decelerate quickly, the armature will continue to freewheel reducing drag on the engine, and alternator twist. This now supports using a 160 amp alt that came with the GTP engines also. Also now supports the spring tensioner holding the belt in place and in tension.

Price point to be determined still.

Loyde

Looks great Loyde...

Kinda what I have, but when you're in the final stages and what not, drop me a line, as I'm interested on the tensioner there. I have it set where you need to pull up on a pulley, and it needs to be re-engineered so that there are no issues w/ it.

I have about ½ of the pic there, but am going to need your assistance to make it 1oo%

Dang... That beats what I'm trying to build, and keeps the stock alt.. Although I'd have to buy that type of alt., as opposed to the '98 one I have..... Hmm.... So what are the parts that you require for this one now? Don't need a good Fiero bracket, right? Is it just the GTP dogbone bracket now? The bracket I'm building for mine would be about the same functionally, but that one looks like it's 1/10 the weight of mine! Nice!! Price???

Looks sharp. Now, design a bracket like that with a tensioner that can be easily bolted on for a stock 2.8 or a 3.1/3.4 pushrod swap in to use the factory alt location...

<--- would buy one if you did, cause I want the new alternator with the one way bearing. Would save wear and tear on mine.
