I need a full 4 wheel alignment on my 88 GT. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good alignment shop in the Dallas area that is Fiero aware? I've read many posts here on problems with car shops destroying the ground effects panels or crushing the cooling tubes, and I really don't want to post another one of those stories.

Greetings Carl...

I had Lane's in Euless do my Formula. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
My Formula is lowered and they put an Auto X custom alignment on my car. MY SPECS... not the factory numbers from the book. (Although you can get that if you want).

They did my alignment while I was IN the car... and I put three 50lbs bags of sand in the passenger seat to simulate human weight there.
Took 'em 1.5 hours... but I got exactly what I wanted.

Best to call for an appointment... 817 283-6223.
He gets a lot of referral business from the Auto X group.

Thanks very much for the responses. That gives me a couple of options. I've been driving the car for a week and have been having a blast, but it definitely needs aligned.

carl,

let me know where you go and how it came out. i'm still not happy with my alignment issues
and i'm tired of take it to the same place for a 4th time.

i plan on getting it align again when i lower it in about a month.

thanks,
toms...

Straight down 67 to Cleburne. Stop at Terry's Tires. They did Wholf's car and he's happy with it. They will be doing mine as well when it comes time.

Thanks Tom,
It shows people are actualy listening!
Alignment for the '88 and other fieros is getting hrader to find places to do it correctly. Averages is from two to three hours, end result shops lose money on our type of cars. Add racing alignments and it gets even longer. Lowering the car, adds another problem. Most can not get it on the alignment racks.
However, there are some places that can handle our cars, like it was said one in Euless , two in Carrollton, these two in Carrollton does racing specs for the Solo 2 and IT cars.
BTW here is the '88 specs:
Wheel Alignment Specification Page 3A-5 (1988 Fiero Service Manual)
Specifications For Diagnosis
For Warranty Repairs Or
Customer Paid Service
Toe Front (Service Checking) Service Settings
Deg (Per Wheel) 0.3 deg +/- .2 deg Total 0.3 deg Total

Camber Front 0 deg +/- .5 deg 0 deg

Caster Front 5.0 deg +/- .5 deg 5.0 deg
(GT & Formula)

Camber Rear -1.0 deg +/- .5 deg -1.0 deg +/- .5 deg

Toe Rear .15 deg +/- .1 deg .15 deg +/- .1 deg
Deg (Per Wheel)

Notes:
Front toe adjustments to be set separately per wheel, with steering wheel held in "straight ahead" position within +/- 5.0 deg.

Front and rear cross car camber must be within 0.75 deg.

Front cross car caster must be within 0.75 deg.

Tie rod boot must not be twisted and must be seated in the tie rod groove.

FYI
My 1988 GT Solo 2 / Daily Driver alignment specs:

Front Toe: 1/8" Toe Out
Front Caster: +5.5 deg - Just can not get enough CASTER, Target is +6 to +6 1/2 deg.
Front Camber: - 1.5 deg

Rear Camber: -1.5 deg
Rear Toe: 1/8" Toe In

Great info!!!

After I get new shocks, poly bushings and possibly new ball joints, I'll get in touch with one of those places and get it done right.

Thanks very much.
