Ok it has been argued, disscussed and in general talked about. I want to know how much do Fiero's in the real world weigh. Could ya also post a breif description of what has changed on your car from stock.

I have seen a simple wheel and tire swap gain or lose as much as 60lbs total weight to a Fiero. extra battery or such. Options. I am going to take mine down to the truck scales and get an exact weight today and just see what I come up with. I know the lightest was the 85 base coupe 4cyl 5spd car, and the heaviest was either the 88GT Auto or the 87GT Auto.

I think this could turn into an interesting thread.

P.S. pleaes post how you got your weight for your car, IE race track, Truck Scales, or lucky enough to own automotive scales at home. (in that case you better post all 4 corners)

2550, this was with everything, and me (150lbs) dont know how much gas though.

1984 2.5L auto.

Low on the weight adding options. Aftermarket sunroof (1/2 size of stock), bare decklid, 13" steel rims with P185/80R13 rims (lighter than 14" turbo aluminum rims), no power anything.

I have a 1986 Base coupe, only difference is the rims, luggage rack and stock sunroof, should be a lightweight too.

I weighed this on a scale on the side of the highway, I guess it would be a truck scale, I can fit all 4 tires on the scale at once

I weghed my a/c system and got around 36 pounds as opposed to 68 according to spyhunter. This included the compressor, evaporator and condensor as well as the lines into the back of the compressor.

I didnt' weigh the lines that go from the front to the rear but those are aluminum so I can't see them weighing that much more.

I weighed my parts on a Toledo Scale.

Oh yea I weighed my old 85 Gt at norwalk raceway park. Fully loaded every option and auto tranny it weighed 2740 without me in it and half a tank. I just don't see how some of you are getting in around 2600 pounds with you guys of 200 pounds sitting in them. thats lighter then GM quoted on a dry car(no fluids)

On a certified toledo scale (@ Mettler Toledo in columbus Ohio) 84 4sp air fuel on E me and tool box (I am 300+) total 2680. and no I can't explane the range of diferent weights. I weighed it 3 times over a week no more than a 30Lb diference but fuel would make that up.

So you are saying that without you and a toolbox and on E your car weighs 2300 or so pounds?

I weighed mine just before I blew it up, and it came in at exactly 2700 lbs. This is with my 3800 turbo, 4t60e tranny, and 17" rims. Ive done a few things to reduce weight. My began life in 87 as a base model duke coupe.

Well I just took my 85GT across the scales, it is a full load PWR everything, windows, mirrors locks, factory AC, but I removed the compressor and condensor. 16" wheels that are 44lbs each, with 225/50/16 tires, 3/4 tank of gas, 7 gallons I think that is about 35lbs of fuel. My full stereo including sub and amp and such.

Total wieight of the car without me in it, is 1230kg, or about 2710 lbs. When I race the car I remove a few things from it and change the wheels and run it about 1/4 tank of gas. So I am guessing about 2600 lbs race weight.

This came to me care of the Fiero Racing List Thank You Gary L.

The "curb weight" listed for each car in the database is the GVWR
from the door sticker minus 401 lbs. 401 lbs is the manufacturer's
rated max load for the car, and that number is also printed on the
sticker; I believe this was a constant that was used on all Fiero's
regardless of year, model, or option stack. I think you'll find the
sticker weight to be pretty darned accurate, as the sticker
apparently reflects the optioned-out weight of the car as built. I
have personally verified the accuracy of the sticker weight on my
car (an '88 GT with lots of options), it was within 9 lbs. A Fiero
weighing less than 2500? Yup... an early 4 cyl coupe with no
options would probably beat that; there's an '84 coupe in the
database at 2508. On the other end of the scale, we're talking
something over 2900 lbs for a late GT with the option list max'd
out. My car is 2879 lbs (3280 GVWR) on the sticker, and it isn't
fully loaded... no power seat, no lumbar, no sub-woofer, etc.

Gary L.
