My problem with aftermarket knobs is they always have that crappy alan screw to hold it on and its only in one spot. They never stay on and always come loose after a while. Do any of you guys know of good looking shifters that actually screw right on?

Ichibahn racer series black & yellow leather shift knob drilled out to fit over a shortened shifter. I cut the shifter rod down myself and then rethreaded it.
I always screw in the set screws then remove the knob. You can see where the screws marked the shaft and can drill holes for the set screws. My knob has not come loose so far.

I had a Firebird about 10 years ago, and I thought the shift knob on that was a round black ball, but don't remember. That's what I'd like to find for mine. I've already got the short shifter and new leather boot, just want to replace the stock gray knob. I do have a round knob somewhere in the house that I had on a monster Mazda truck (302 V-8 and T-5R trans), but don't know where it is or if it will fit the Fiero shifter. If I ever find it I'll give it a try and post the picture if it fits.

flameball will custom tap each of their products to match your OEM replacement. The biggest problem with this is.. the stock knob has a VERY long shank and sinks down on the shifter. The replacement doesn't screw down as far, so it increases the length of the shifter rod.
As soon as I get a free sunday (and a tap and die kit) I'm going to cut an inch and a half off of her shifter and re-thread it to bring it back to it's pretty much stock height.
It's kinda orthopedic right now

I'm running a flameball pearl on black knob in my 87... that was the one thing they didn't manage to steal or ruin when my car got stolen. It gets loctited on with included adhesive. www.flameball.com
Here's the only pics of it I have. Got it from Thunder Racing ( http://www.thunderracing.com/ ) Its supposed to be for an F-Body, but the Fiero Manual Shifter is the same size as the F-Body, so any F-Body shift knob will fit.

Mine is a real Cue Ball. Having big hands it is just right for me !!! It was drilled and a brass insert installed with the correct threads so it screws right on.
