This was an idea that started in another thread. but here we go!
400 Fiero's at a Fiero meet is great but to make a bigger statment to non Fiero Pontiac owners is to get 100+ Fiero's at one of their shows. At Norwalk Tripower Nationals we had around 30 Fiero's for the weekend and drew a good crowed to our cars. If we can land 100 Fiero's this will prove we a strong Pontiac collectors cars to the rest of the Pontiac world. We know our numbers but they don't attend our shows and see our numbers and or quality.
Norwalk in in August next year and is in easy one day driving for the largest area of Fiero owners. Let talk this up and get people to see what we already know.
Also Pontiac is in attendance with many company VIP's. We can show that we did not forget. Also the POCI has been getting warmer to the Fiero owners, our attendance will help prove to their members that don't think Pontiac has built a car since 1979 that we are more Pontiac than most other Pontiac's before us. One last thing Both Pontiac magazines attend and with the new GTO coming out it could be hoped some other may attend also.
If Kansas is too far for anyone Please attend Norwalk next year. Any one from IL., IN., MI., West PA., and OH can make a one day trip on this. Even southern On. owners can make a day trip through Detroit.
This is a well run and covered event. It is claimed to be the largest Pontiac meet in the world with over 800 race and show cars each year. The Fiero group has been growing each year and getting noticed.
Please consider this show and let make a statment to the Pontiac world not just other Fiero owners!

Yeah I can be at the show with my 86 GT unless Mid Ohio is having races that weekend. What day is the show? We do need to represent our little mid engined wonders to the rest of the Pontiac people.

This is one helluva good idea. If I didn't live so far, I'd join you.
I think you are onto something very important. Going to Fiero-only shows, like the 20th, is fun, but we should all consider getting groups of Fieros together to descend on other shows. Pontiac shows, GM car shows, any kind of car show in general that would allow our cars.
I think it would be important to let the rest of the car world know that we're here, our cars are good cars, worthy of showing and collecting. We sometimes complain when people are quoted as saying "Fieros suck", "they're girl cars" or "POS, don't they all catch fire" and so on. If we show up with well cared-for, polished, good running cars, some with engine swaps, it could go a long way to educating the car community about Fieros.
I was the last year and I enjoyed it so much. We even got free breakfast and snacks for being registered. Its a great event and one of the greatest drag strips around. Come join us next year. Probably my most memorable moment there was when a little kid walking by asked his dad why the Ferarri's were at a Pontiac show....lol

2M4 Dale's cookout/campout is CFOGi's regional event, which includes going to the nationals. Btw, Wheatstock will be held in conjunction with "Pontiacs @ the Park", in which two local Pontiac clubs will be using the Heartland Park Topeka facilities at the same time we are.

Good point...and we have already made an impression on the Daytona show, as the Fiero will be on the logo for the overall event. Out of the thousands of cars there, my observation is that the Fiero easily out numbers all the other cars. If we want to get more support from Pontiac then we need to support the Pontiac events.

Yep, this is a really good idea. It is time now foe Fiero's to go to shows like this and begin changing public perception. I am to far for this event, but really encourage others Pennockers to do this. Make 50 cars the goal, more hopefully. A hundred would be awesome.

I was there at the show last year. I wnet to Dales cookout/campout. I had a blast. Its a great event and you get to see all kinds of nice Pontiacs. You also get to see probably the largest gatherings of Firehawks in the country.
I would love to go to Ohio in August, I spent 18 years of my life trying to leave Norwalk it would be nice to go back to see what has changed. 1200 miles will probably keep me here in Florida, but you never know what next year will bring.

I'll be there now that I own one and I see a few cars I know of in the photo's. See yah there and I seen the event this week in the Pontiac magazine at our Fiero meet here up North. I drove my yellow wheel'd beast for the last time this year I think, as it was cold and light snow got on her while I was in the warm party hehehehehehe. Rick B

I think I could probably make it to this show (depending on my work schedule). Its only 611km for me so thats not too bad of a drive, a bit further than the 20th was. Well I hope to make it I think I can help contribute to the 100!

Norwalk and the Cleveland Fieros are great hosts, and for all of those coming from far and beyond I believe (and i hope im not getting ahead of myself) 2m4Dale will be having his cookout/campout so that you can spend the night at his house. I dodnt go myself but I hear it is a great time....again hopefully Dale will chime in and clearify if he is indeed doing this again.

Hey Fierobear, the Bay Area chapter Goodguys often have hot rod events in Dublin(Pleasenton) CA. Have any of the local Fiero guys ever entered their cars? Two-three years ago one of the local Goodguys asked me to enter my Fiero. I declined. Why? Car wasn't finished, just got the Northstar. However I think a LT1, LS1, SBC would fit-in very nicely.
As far as the negetive comments from the unwise people from time to time....our Fiero's do need work in the engine, suspension, and interior creativity department. In order to get into some of these functions.....they would have to look like Chris West's car or better (in my opinion). Back east they have Archie's and his car meets or exceeds the hot rod requirements. This should also apply to GM Pontiac show/events. Yeah I know..... hot rodders spend a lot more money on their cars than we do. However they are not confronted by words: POS, Slow, or Fire trap.

How does one get a car in this show? Are they open, or invite only? I'm willing to take one or more of my Fieros anywhere they are welcome.
Let's see if we can double our efforts at going to non-Fiero shows next year. Maybe you can help us plan for these? Can you make it to our meetings? Our next one is this Tuesday night in Redwood City.
I'm planning on being there at Norwalk. Hope that a lot of us from Michigan can go and caravan together.

You bet we are going to make it this year. I like to show other people what our 'little' cars are all about, especially 'open' car show.
We at C.O.F.E. (Central Ohio Fiero Enthusiasts) have been invite to join the local Sertoma club to their "OPEN" car show. They are celebrating their 20th year of putting on a show. And, Fiero is celebrating it's 20th year of existance. It will be late in the year, September the 18th, in Westerville (Columbus), Ohio. We are hoping for a great turnout to show off to other clubs. The wife and I took our Fiero's up last year. We were the only Fiero there, and we got a lot of good feed back. And I even got to bring home some hardware, 1st place in my class at their own show. We are looking forward to next years turnout.

I should be there But I may not be able to caravan with anyone else from the MFC....lousy school...probably have to shoot down late friday night or saturday morning :/ But I should be there
I've been there the last 3 years and it's a great show. Planning on going next year too. The drag racing is awesome and the cars in the show are excellent. If you're into Pontiacs, you should go to this show.

Fierobear: what the timing on Tuesday? how long? And I don't have my the Silver chop in CA and the otherone in Bakersfield. Currently I'm roll'n in a import.
GoodGuys? I have to find he's number. From talking to him, he stated that the car should be "show" or close to it. Most of the Goodguys drive or haul their cars to the shows. Its offered every 6 months.
Like he said "show" like. I don't think one could bring a stock Fiero there even if its a "trailer queen." But I do know that the Stinger, PPE, and Chris West would (in my opinion) be a hit! The more chrome...the better. A Northstar wouldn't make a big deal to them compared to a LT1 or LS1 unless its all doll'd up like Mech Tech's or CHFAB's engines. I have some chrome parts for the Northstar but haven't but them on yet. Like I said, the car would need to have a bad boy paint w/engine suspenion mods.
On the other hand GoodGuys car club are made up of mature older men vs. import car show. With the imports its (in my opinion) mostly body molds, music systems and then engine works. A Fiero might stand a greater chance there but either case...the Fiero as a whole is out numbered, but not nessasorly out "gunned."

I don't think you could have anyway. When I checked into a Goodguys event here in Texas, I learned they only allowed entries of older cars. The cutoff year escapes me, but 80's cars were not included.
I mentioned briefly in another thread, maybe it bears repeating... Wheatstock is a combined weekend of Fieros with "Pontiacs @ the Park", which involves two other local Pontiac clubs, and a large spectator turnout is expected. CFOGi's logo will even be on their event t-shirts. It will definitely be a time to show off some Pegasus Pride.

Following up on both yours and Cheever's post, just let me know if they want or would allow us to be there. If so, I'll help organize however I can.

I went to good-guys.com and clicked "2004 Early Bird registration", then clicked the button in the middle of the page. The 5th event down on the left is Pleasanton CA, I clicked "Early Bird registration". It says:
quote
This event is for: Rods, customs, classics through ’54.
That's for even older cars than the Texas event! In Fort Worth TX it says:
quote
This event is for: Rods, customs, classics & muscle cars through ’72.

We try to do that here, entering Show 'n Shines that allow "special interest" vehicles or have no year restriction. We had a row of 7 Fieros at a Camaros & Friends S/S with OK results. It's good if you can get several Fieros into a show, because "it's lonely out there" when you're the only one.

It may be a lonely feeling when you're the only Fiero there, but when you walk away with one of the below trophies, you can really stand tall!!!! Class both years was 1972 to 1995 All Manufacturers, All Models, Modified. Competed against approximately 250-300 cars each show! Lost interest in Showing my car in 2002, takes up too much of my time.
The Norwalk Event is highly encouraged, it's a great track, with great facilities. I didn't take my car down the last two years, but attended both years, crewing on my cousins '65 GTO in 2002, and his new 'Digger' this past summer. There are some real awesome Pontiacs to look at in either Show or Race Mode, also, they have some of the best ice cream around at the track!!!

We have had good regular attendance for the GM Nationals in June at Carlisle Fairgrounds. The date for this coming year is June 19th - we're even considering moving our larger 120+ car Fiero show to GM Nationals if this year's attendance merits it.
We also have a nice turnout at Pontiacs at the Grove, which is usually the last weekend in July.

For the Kansas Guys and Women, I will Be taking my 88 to Atwood Kansas to there Rod show and run next year. Sure would love for those of you that can to go to that show. Its a big show in Kansas and I think that even stock Fieros would be very welcome there as there are alot of Stock Corvettes there. I have seen Newer Camero's and Firebirds there as well that had no modifications done. If I can get my 86 running it will be there as well. Later in the year is Flat Landers at Goodland Kansas. Both are on the Western Side of Kansas but well worth it. Atwood is on Highway 36 just north of Colby Kansas, and Goodland is of corse on I-70 20 some miles from the Colorado Border

Jenn, Carlisle is deffinatly on my "toodoo" list this coming year !!!
Yes, Dale will be having his 5th Annual Cookout/Campout in conjunction with Fiero Fever and the Pontiac Peformance Weekend again this coming summmer ! I will be at Norwalk again this August .... Cleveland Fieros does a fantastic job of throwing this "show within a show" !!! Great group of folks ! ( www.clevelandfieros.com )
And, YES, we need to be more available to other groups ... if nothing else just to show 'em what WE got !!!
AND ... like Chuck said ... Wheatstock will be held alongside 2 other Pontiac Clubs ... there should be a fairly large POCI turnout ... CFOGi and the American Fiero Chapter of the POCI will be holding hands a bit ! We just gotta show those GTO guys and the f-body guys that we have somethin' special too !!!!!!!!
Please keep this in mind for August. With this being the 20TH year of the Fiero and 40Th the GTO, we need to show the Pontiac people [Corperate and Enthusiast alike] we have been and will be a major part of Pontiac history. This is the largest gathering of Pontiacs in the world [arounf 800 cars] and we had around 30 Fiero's last year. I know we can do better and where better place than in front of the Pontiac corperate people that attend [many VIP'S amd GM brass do]. Also the 2 Pontiac magazines cover this event well so if you want to show the world the Fiero is as popular as we know it is this is the stage to do it.
We always have a good time at Norwalk and this is one of the better events there with drag racing, swam meet, car show, and all. Free ice cream and all kinds of stuff to do and see.
