C&C did the "factory" installed T-tops. Only the 88 had an "official T-top" with a factory RPO code also installed by C&C. I guess an 87 could have had a dealer installed T-top by C&C or someone could have switched tops.

I've seen one 87 that was supposedly factory T-top, it was a blue GT in IN. The guy said he still had the window sticker that listed the T-top option. Im pertty sure he told me it was the only one made. Something seems a little odd though, as I dont exactly understand why a base coupe with no options what so ever would have factory T-tops.

The 1988 RPO T Top is the only factory offical top. But there could have been a proposal sample car or 2 done for Pontiac It would be hard to prove one way or the other.
I spoke a few years back to the guy From Car and Concepts that was in charge of the program. He said they tried to get Pontiac to make it an official option right from the start in 1984. They also did a car or 2 each year to try to get it accepted.
The first years C+C could only get it listed as a factory approved dealer installed option [no void in the warranty if installed after it leaves the factory]. I remember seeing new cars at the dealer prior to 1988 with added window stickers with the T top option, not too much different than what I saw on the 1988's, just no option code and the prices varied from dealer to dealer.
The first T top was done on a pilot or prototype 1984 before the car was introduced. Pontiac said it could not be done and C+C wanted to show them it could. I am sure this car was distroyed years ago.

This is an old question and the answer is the same. the 1988 Fiero is the only one with FACTORY T-tops since it has the RPO code and the pre-88 models did not. EVEN though T-tops were available for the Fiero as early as late 1984 as a dealer option, GM didn't sign-up until 1988. I have had a 1984 T-top and currently have a 1988 and 1986 T-top car in the yard. The 86 GT T-top I have came from the dealer with the T-tops when it was first sold. So even though the car was first sold brand new with T-tops, it was not a facotry option. They would drop ship the car to C&C for the T-tops to be added AFTER they received them. This was an extra cost and one of the motivations for having the RPO code order option added in 1988.

Easy way to tell CJB from the so called aftermarket is that the CJB will have the Weather seal and headliner strip integrated in one piece. The so called aftermarket will have 2 separate pieces,
