there is a gague on my new car that measures kilopascals per centimeter squared and i don't know what that is refering to. it follows my r's, is it horsepower? I'm a little confused, but still very much enjoying my new car (that i just got 1 hr ago)

no. . .it isn't a fiero, sorry guys. I'm still an addict, more or less. I'll go back to the fiero when i have more free time (and can afford two cars at once :P)

Kilopascals is an atmospheric measure, maybe you have a boost gauge for a supercharger or turbo in your new car?

I don't think it is supercharged, and i don't notice any sudden increase in power at certain r's, but the engine uses premium gas and if you don't let the engine reach higher r's it will get weaker over time, needs to run hard to keep clean or something. It is a four banger, but stronger than the duke. I suppose i could get pics tomorrow when the sun comes back. I like the car, better than my current fiero. It is another project car, but not as bad as my current fiero. evil hydrolic clutch doesn't like me.

but enough rambling, i'll do some reading to figure it out.

That doesn't make sense... a pascal is a Newton/Meter squared... So it's a kilonewton/meter squared/centimeter squared?? Pascals are already a pressure measurement, so if it really is kPa/cm^2, that would mean it measures force?? I'm so confused

everyone i've asked in person about this I also asked them about pressure over area. I am a physics major (just finished freshman year) and this was confusing me in a bad way. (mostly because i've been out of classes for a month and still don't really want to use my head at some times) I saw the kp/cm2 and immediately thaught kilopascals, but after my last post I started to think about it. kPa would be kilopascals. . .so what is kp? i think it is comparable to a force of some sort, i think it was kilopolo or something. too tired, gotta get up early tomorrow for work. I'll figure it out sometime.

OKAY! I found your answer... kp is an old outdated measure called a "kilopond". It is the force of gravity on one kilogram... so it is basically the same as 9.8 newtons... so it is a pressure of some sort. 1kp/cm^2 = 1 atmosphere (bar) = 14.7psi... how high does it go? If your readings are like 4kp/cm^2, it could be something like fuel pressure... if they hover around 1-2, it is a boost gauge of some sort.

<edit> ooo, wait... If it's a 4 cylinder, it might be running around 1 for fuel pressure... hmm...
