Or for anyone else who's done a 3x00 series engine swap. Did you find a coolant hose from driver side pipe to the thermostate housing that would fit from another car or make one yourself? How did you run your fuel lines? Any adivce on these to plumbing proceedures would be helpful, want to make sure I do it right.

I can answer part of that.. Here's what Rick did on my car...

He just modded the inlet to where it 'floats' between two hoses back there. He found the highest spot where there is a water jacket and put a bleeder valve in it where air can be bled. In this case, that valve is on the passenger side of the engine, on the corner toward the rear window..

I found a hose at the auto parts store...took a coat hanger bent to the shape. It's a pretty long hose with lots of bends. I bleed the system with a valve on top of the motor.

I'm using a big FRAM fuel filter mounted on the driver side(away fron the exhaust) and just ran FI hose up to the stock lines ran on the driver side. I have the pressure line double clamped...haven't found a better way yet.

*grumble* left me and my 3400 out, see if I help him out *grumble*

What I did was take the coolant crossover hose and cut it so I had a metal elbow and about 18 inches of pipe. Then a short straight hose section connected that to the coolant/thermostat cover. Then a 90 degree elbow hose connected the pipe to the pipe under the left side of the car. I welded a threaded bung to the pipe to attach the heater hose.

Thanx for the suggestion. I think I'm first gonna try Joe's way, I like Steve's idea on building the pipe but I really don't want to remove anything from the old 2.8 engine. It seems like it has a future for itself in another fiero. Just got an 87 T-top coupe dirt cheap, no motor or tranny and needs some work from sitting 5 years but the frame is in great shape. Only problem has been trying to keep it a secret from the comman-law She likes the look of the coupe and fell in love with the t-top look, so I'm gonna try to rebuild it for her next year.

Also Steve, I didn't know you had a 3400 Fiero, let see some pics. How about a count on how many of us has a 3x00 series, deffinetly not as many as the 3800's.

When I did the fuel lines I took off the upper intake manifold and fuel rail. I turned the fuel rail around 180deg and bent the fuel lines from the fuel rail down the front left (water pump side) side of the engine. Then used the stock Fiero fuel filter in its stock location and fuel lines from the Fiero that run in there stock location. I cut off the threaded ends of the Fiero fuel lines and used two each fuel injection rated hose clamps for the Fiero fuel lines to clamp them to the 3100SFI metal fuel lines that I bent to reach the Fiero fuel lines. Does that make sence?
On the pass side radiaror hose I used a universal flex type hose that would reach the engine.
On the drive side I used the Fiero therm housing (modified) for a fill point. I wanted it as high as posable, and used stock Fiero hoses cut to fit.
I used the stock Olds Cut Sup air intake hose to conect the stock Fiero air filter to the engine, but cut a very short ruber hose end from another Fiero intake hose and put it on the Fiero air filter and clamped the 3100SFI intake hose around it. That way it looks totaly stock.
