I have had a few people ask me about my driving lights on my Fiero, so I decided to make a small writeup on how to install them.

I installed them on my 84 Fiero 2.5L Auto, the only difference between years is the fuse panel, but the part I used is the same on all years, the bumper would also be different, so you will have to install them wherever you want if you dont have a bumperpad bumper.

I installed and wired the lights by cutting/tapping into no wires, and drilling no holes at all.

___________________________________________________

Here are my driving lights:

The lights I used are from Wal-Mart, they are called Phantom something or another, they were something like $35.99 for a pair, I liked these because they were very small. They came with a lighted switch and wiring, the switch got hot on a 3 hour trip and melted in the on position. I rewired them properly, using a relay, and a small swithch that didnt have a hot light bulb in it.

I attached the lights using 2 of the screws that attach the black grille to the bumper skin, I had to sand the edge of the foot of the light off because it was too wide, but they put the lights right where I want them.

I attached the ground wire for each light to the lower radiator support using a bolt and nut through a hole in the support.

I ran the power wire for the lights through a hole in the rubber radiator shroud thing infront of the radiator on the drivers side, and up through another hole below the headlight.

I ran the wires for my hood lights and driving lights under the headlight assembly, putting the wires under all the other wires, to hold the new wires down and away from the headlight assembly. I got the wires into the front compartment between the plastic and metal parts, it is sealed with foam so it does not pinch the wires.

I placed the relays for both my driving lights and my hood lights just infront of the firewall above the brake booster. I attached the relays to the frame by using the screw hole that the rear sunroof support attaches to. If you have a sunroof, the relays will be hidden, the screw is long enough to add the relays to it, I used metal bracket, because the screw hole on the relays was not far enough away from the body to attach the 2nd one backwards.

I ran the wires through the firewall by pulling the plug out that covers the clutch master cylinder up. If you have a manual, you will probably have to drill a hole in the firewall.

I got power for the relays from one of the IGN soccets on the fuse panel, they are only 1 pin soccets, and there is 2 on the front and 1 or 2 on the back (cant remember), you can use any one of them. A standard spade connector works, you have to file the edges down because the spade is too wide for the soccet, after it is filed narrow enough, it fits tight like a fuse. I plugged mine into the front of the panel because I want to be able to change my lights to work with the ignition off for shows, all I have to do is move the wire to the other side, where it says BAT, that plug is live all the time. The power for the lights is by a light that I ran straight to the + battery terminal, I can use this wire for any other accessories that I install on the front also.

I installed my switch for the lights in the drivers side ash tray, using a custom made plate, I used a small toggle switch, and wired it up to the ground wire for the relays, that way, if the wire shorts out, or the switch shorts out, to the frame, I wont short anythign out, it will only turn the lights on. After the switch, I ran the wire to a grounded screw under the dash. I forgot to take a pic of this

These lights are too bright to use at night, so I turn them off, they are a bright blue color, and very bright.

Hope this is informative to somebody?

Oops, I forgot, here are my hood lights, the light up my hood vents at night with a red glow. They are done the same way as my driving lights, I drilled holes into the front frame part of the hood, it is hollow, and I dont have screws sticking out of my hood.
