V-6 Do they actually sell a replacement 'O' ring or seal..whatever for the distributor, or do you just have to try and match one up. If someone sells an actual replacement, can anyone tell me who? I have one heck of an oil leak, and it almost looks like it is coming from the distributor. Not even sure if this is possible.
The o-ring on my distributor is also leaking and i bought one from rodney dickman. He sells the good hi-temp brown one and this is definitely the one to get. Just look under the engine section and heres the site http://www.rodneydickman.com/retail.html Hope this helps

I got one at my local auto store for $ 1.00, but Rodney Dickman sells a better product for $ 3.00, I believe. You're right, once they go the leak gets worse every day.
Why is it, that when I need something, I never even give the Pontaic dealer a thought. Never even crosses my mind. I'll check there before ordering. That way maybe I can do the work this Saturday.
Thanks

The tan one the dealer (and Rodney) was designed for the oil pump drive on the 3.4 DOHC motor. The oil pump drive on these motors is basically just the bottom half of a distributor, but in the case of the DOHC motor you have to pull the complete intake and cam drive system, as well as one cylinder head, to change that O-ring. It's made to last.
Imagine a mechanic telling his (or her) customer that the $2 O-ring that's leaking on their motor will require $1,500 worth of labor and gaskets to replace.
