Just curiuos if anyone here knows how much elevation will affect how fast your car is. I live in a pretty high climate, and all my cars are pretty slow. My Fiero does 0-60 around 18 seconds, my Saturn does it in 13 or so seconds. The elevation is approximatly 6200-6400 FT above sea level.

In the old days of carbs the altitude was a big problem. With computer controlled fuel injected engines the problem is diminished somewhat. Modern engines compensate fuel ratios according to the amount of air coming in the engine so the engine does not run rich. With this being said there is a power loss at higher altitudes but at least the car burns the gas better. This is one of the reasons drag strip times are recorded with the altitude. Bottom line is, yes you would have less power but usually not an amount most people would notice.

Skitime beat me to it...I think you'd be able to make up for it with a shot of NOS.

:P Don't like nitrous, too expensive. The only place around here that was able to fill you back up with nitrous went out of business. Well with my Duke, I "should be" around 73 HP or so to be around the stock 92HP at 500 FT elevation.....But, if I have a 350HP engine dynoed here, at 500 FT the engine will actually be 436 HP.
