This will probably be my last post as I have sold my 87 GT, but I thought I would share my experience with the Mr. Clean Car wash kit.

The starter kit ran me $19 + tax. It comes with the dispenser, filter (good for 3 washes), and soap (good for 3 washes). The basic idea is smart. Have all of your stuff in ONE spot. First thing you do is pop in the water filter, fill it up with soap, and attach it to a water hose. You have three settings on it: Faucet water, soapy faucet water, and filtered water.

At first I kinda laughed at the stream that came out to get the car wet, no where close to my powerful sprayer I typically use to wash the car with. However, my laughter quickly changed to a pleasant smile when I turned the setting to soapy water. The suds were perfect and you could actually see it lifting the direct and moving it away. I grabbed the trusty cotton rag, soaked it with soapy water, and proceeded to wash the car. You could feel the dirt and grim slide off under the rag. I made sure to clean the rag frequently, as it was getting VERY dirty VERY quickly. After going over it a couple of times I no longer felt any bug guts, road grim, dirty, dust, or sand on the paint job....I smiled bigger! I typically have to scrub for several minutes to get the paint feeling this nice.

As I worked on washing the car I made sure to keep the car wet from front to back, so as to not make any hard water spots (very bad water here...makes spots in minutes if left on the car). After I finished washing the entire car I turned the knob to Filtered Water. At first the system sputtered a bit, the tool jumped around and then a burst of water came out the end. I was pleasantly surprised at the force that was behind the stream of water, but even more surprised with how smooth and flat the vertical stream was. I proceeded around the car, using a typical side to side painter’s motion, making sure to cover it all.

I then did the one thing I have never done before (without regretting seriously later), I walked away. I put my faith in Mr. Clean to do his job.....

Mr. Clean didn't let me down! That bald man can run all over my car anytime! WOW! NO hard water stains. NO streaks. NO grim. NO soapy residue. Just a nice CLEAN car that's ready for waxing.

Mr. Clean, in my book your #1

No way! Padre Island? I know you are a couple hours away, but look where I live. Too bad you sold your car. Not many of them down here. I love mine. I just like driving a car that not everyone has. Thanks for the tip on the bald guy.
