Ok I keep getting the run around this wont fit look at the stock muffler its smaller
and what on earth did you guys pay? they want to charge me $150! and he can't gaurantee it won't rattle or what not as he put it. Anything else that needs to be done to the muffler? I got the notch done in it am I missing something. $150 seems a bit steep and he kept going on and on I'd just keep the stock one, I was like yeah I would but its restricting me I need 2.5 stocks 1 7/8 then he had a dumb founded look on his face and think he finally understood, but dang $150 does that sound off the wall?
If its your stock exhaust its not that bad of a price... remember that he has to cut your system and weld in your muffler... and make sure everything is angled right because once you cut it all lose from that muffler everything will lose alignment and go haywire

Dang, for that kind of $ You should have gone with the WCF 2.5 whole exhaust like I did. though I used the spin tek muffler.
If you have the"notch" cut out then I would try to get someone else to do the job! (maybe even do yourself or dad) then clamp it and THEN go have it welded.
well the mufflers ready to go in the notch is done and all welded in just need someone to install it and 2.5 inch tips. I explained the notch cause the 2nd guy laughed he was like you do that.. I'm like uhh yeah.. needs that to pass the cradle.

150 dollars doesn't seem to unreasonable to me , as long as you get a good job. How does that notch affect the flow and sound of that muffler? You couldn't find a smaller one? Magnaflow has em in every size imaginable.
Notching it shouldn't make it rattle and it shouldn't be that much different than a regular muffler that he would be putting on other than it takes up more room than stock. It will fit and it has a notch in it, there shouldn't be much of a problem.
$150 isn't that much considering the inlet curve that hes going to have to put in. You have less wiggle room with a 2.5" pipe.

he's not sure what would hold the muffler in place how the stock has those springs attached to that and the cradle? so it won't rattle, I just dont want him to do it and have something be crappy and have paid that money
Just to let you on a little scerete, you do not have to notch and cut the flowmaster 80 series muffler to install in a '88 model. I now have some pictures to prove it on my fiero! It has been on my '88GT for over two years now. Lowkey please provide e-maill address and can send pictures proving it. You will see no cuts or notches on the muffler. It does work, you just have to find the right muffler shop to install the way you want them to install it! BTW the muffler starts at 2.5" piping and goes from there. 4” Thick - 9.75” Wide 21” Overall Length - 15” Case Length Single 2.50”/ Dual 2.50” Part# 42583

for 84-87 you don't need the notch. When the shop put the 80 series in for my car, he had to hit back a thing metal protector plate on the back wall of the engine bay and the rest was easy peasy. I'll try to get a sound clip sometime soon

I'll get a vid tomorrow, it sounds amazing reminds me of the rumble the 2.8 had when you rev it up, but its a touch more potent. Darn stock muffler nothing came out it was quiet as can be.
have to get a hold of a guy I know so he can upload the video for me or if anyone here can support it?
