Had to bump this back to the first page. I know there are more of you out there with this conversion so let's see your pics to show an option that should have been built by Pontiac.

The only time I would mix and match parts is if the original was no longer available.

What if you wrecked the nose on your fastback and realizing the replacement is $350 and you had a coupe nose laying around fro free? I think I would do it in that case.

I forget his name but he lives in Midland Michigan (i used to go to Northwood university there) He is an engineer I believe. the car is a 3.8SC series 1 , 5spd with supertrapps..nice car

I vote yes, without groung effects! Looks Pantera-ish don't you think? I still prefer the '87-'88 GT. My second choice is the Indy body style.

This was a base coupe when I started. So far, in addition to the fastback, I've installed a sunroof, TransAm seats, a mustang scoop, sluppy123's front hood struts, and a '97 Pontiac CD/Radio. But, I've got alot of work left to do. I'm debating on what type of spoiler to put on...back to the original, or something else. Like the looks of the Fiero warehouse "Whale Tail", but not sure how it will work with the "mustang scoop" on the deck lid. Would also like to put on a set of quarter panel sccops, lowering springs, re-install the ground effects, sunbird hood vents. Then comes finishing the inside. Have a set of power doors to install and want to add cruise. Finally comes repainting.

Oh well, it's a free country, at least a lot of us who do like the fastback/coupe nose look can go ahead and enjoy it ourselves.

I think the consensus is that the wedgie/fastbacks look better without the ground effects. I'd suggest leaving them off.

jscott, I agree with the consensus when it comes to the GT FX, but I'm talking about re-installing the coupe FX on the sides. They cover up the door jambs and the metal edge of the unibody frame at the bottom of the car.

Got it, I went back and looked at your picture, I didn't realize at first that the coupe ground FX were not installed.

If the ground effects could somehow be added onto the coupe nose it would look pretty good.

I really think it looks out of place with the fastback though.

After looking at several examples I think the front needs to be dropped in order for the wedge look to really take effect. Especially if its an 88 which sit higher in the front anyway. I think all 88s should be recalled and drop spindles installed by GM free of charge...but that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Make mine a 'for'. I've seen Watts (see pictures above) conversion to a fast-wedge and it's beeeeeooooootiful (something rather exotic about it). What makes a huge difference is losing the ground effects and lowering the car substantially.

I think I would just sell the car if I couldnt find an aero nose for it... or drive it with no nose at all before I put a coupe nose on my gt... to me it takes a more modern looking car, and makes it look cheap and early 80'ish

I've wanted to do this, but I don't think it looks good unless you lower it and remove the ground effects. Biggest problem is I don't have the money to lower it (I'm not cutting any springs) or the money for a wedgie nose.

Man! Is this still going? My last few posts seem to be all getting the burning book icon. Well, it looks like there are more yeas then nays though I don't have time at the moment to tally them up. Over all an '87+ coupe nose, lowered, sans GFX and not all black seems to be well received. I also liked that one shot with the '87+ rear bumper cover and the GT taillights (I didn't realize this was possible). Now I have to decide if this is something I really want to do. I have yet to see a single '87-88 coupe on the road here in Ontario since my '87 took an unauthorized trip to who-knows-where. There are definitely none in any of the wreckers I have visited so, the conversion might be a real challenge just to find the parts at a reasonable price (read cheap).

If there are any more opinions, keep 'em coming.
