I spent yesterday at the Fiero Factory prospecting some goodies and tried for a car... While I was waiting he allowed me to drive his 4.9 powered monster!! GOD that was one heck of a ride it definately got the gears a goin in my head. I am thinking of doing the same engine swap for my 86 GT. The engine just seemed like it belonged in that car. I almost didnt want to go back but I had to..HE HE But it put a smile from ear to ear on my face and look foward to maybe doing one for my self ..... Also on a side note Im hopefully going to be a multi Fiero owner soon... Talked to a very helpful guy there about a 88 Red Formula sunroof 5speed with Mikes leather. Hope to iron out the details within the week. However it needs a fuel pump and a starter nothing big its only real problem is just a little fading on top.
Speaking of marine engine's if I wanted to go with a SBC I could get an Indmar marine engine. I can get those in need of minor repair at the Boat Dealership I used to work for at a good price when available. No big difference other than the cam. More for torque than top speed But HP still ranges from 310 TBI - 350 MPI....Then I could really say I have a boat load of engine back there In reality just how much more effort is necessary in a SBC when compared to a 4.9??? Much if any? Or a matter of taste verses the wallet?
