my 133,000 mile 1987 GT still has 2 of them on the rear.
btw: for those that dont know the fiero gt came from the factory riding on a set of Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires. they are no longer made, and impossible to find.

Iv'e got GT+4's on my ride. Not the originals, but they have about 5 years on them. They are okay in the rain. They are okay in the dry. They are even okay at the strip... Just not really great at any one season.
I think the original tires were Goodyear Eagle GT's, not GT+4

i thought that the +4's came on all GT's. mine are original, and thats what they are. and i have an 87GT. so experts, what were stock on the GT?
With 133,000 miles? I HIGHLY doubt they're the original tires...unless they're nothing but cords now...
According to Mark Corbin's "Fiero Spotter's Guide", the 1987 GT came with 205/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GT's on front, and 215/60R15 Goodyear Eagle GT's on the rear. In 88, they switched to the Eagle GT+4's.
Hope that clears things up.

I have an 84SE red with tan interior, with the original GOODYEAR EAGLE GT 14" with 14,000 miles on them and the car. No that's not a mistake. I bought it new and parked it for keeps sake. Just sees summers. Have other GT with a lot more miles on aftermarket tires.

My 85 GT came stock with Goodyear Eagle GT+4s....long gone now
Wow. That's wierd, because they didn't make Eagle GT +4s in 1985. I think every other Fiero GT came with Eagle GTs. You got a special one! Too bad you didn't hang on to them...
I have a 1985 2M6 SE with the WS6 and l still have the original Eagle GT's with around 17,000 miles on them. All GT or WS6 suspensions has Eafle GT, No Fiero ever came with GT II's and only 1988 had GT 4's. My dad also worked for Goodyear here in Akron so it was a point of interest. He did not complain though when I got a set of 225/50/16 comp TA's for free from Goodrich. They are first generation Comps that stick good but are only good for around 18,000 miles. These are the ones they shaved down to race on in showroom stock in the 80's. they were going to shave mine and I stopped them.
If anyone need a Goodyear replacment tire check out the new Eagle GT HR. They are a good prive and a vastly improved tire! Some of the best wet and dry traction I have seen on a lower priced tire that will run 50,000 miles. Even on our SSEI Bonnie they are great in the snow.
The lit for 85 says the 85 GT had Goodyear Eagle GT's. My car now resides on a set of GT II's. I'd love to get my hand on a pristine set of original GT's.

actualy i just found out from the guy at the tire shop today that they were made in the 11th week of 93. i had him inspect the tires 'cause i was a little leary of them, but he said that they were still good. the car has done alot of sitting around until recently.
when they need to be replaced i plan to get a set of Goodyear Eagle LS's or maybe ill go with the GT's. i have 215/60/15 all around, and the front tires are aftermarket.

The other year I picked up a set of rims and GT+4's from an 88GT with 7,000 miles on them. I have the rims sitting in a special place waiting for a day to use them(out of the weather and with tire dressing on them). I have verified the manufactering date in 3rd quater of 1987 (I forget the exact month on the tire). The rims still have the factory painted wheel weights. In a pinch last year I did use the rear 88 rims and tired on my 87 GT for a few hundred miles and they still rode great!

BTW: if any of you 88 owners is interested in buying these 2 tires from meto make their car more original, i would be willing to part with them. the tire guy said that they are have 30-45% tread left. they are slightly weather worn, but still good. make me an offer. other wise i will leave them on and wear them down to nubs. maybe ill post this in the mall too, just in case.

My 86 GT still has the original Eagles on it. The tread is still good , but the sidewalls are so cracked that they won't pass a saftey inspection. (32,2XX miles on it).
My 87 GT w/17K has the original Eagle GTs. I have the original GT+4s on the 5K 88 GT. I have replacement GT+4s on my other 88GT. And I have 2 sets in the garage for future restorations...

I still have the GT+4's that came on the front of my Formula when I got it. (I use BFGoodrich CompTA's all around.)
The GT+4's are used, but still in decent shape, and wrapped in plastic in my garage... if somebody is interested in buying them from me and is willing to come drive here to pick them up from me, they're for sale... if not, I'll just hang onto them and use them as emergency spares in case I get a blowout at a time that I'm in-between paychecks.

I definitely agree with litespd - no way those are originals. I currently have a set of GT+4's on my Fiero, but they are not original. GT's and GT+4's seem to wear out quickly even with no abuse in my case.

I had a set of Eagle GT II's on my 86 GT when I bought it with 98,000 miles on it...all in the stock sizes. I KNEW they were replacements for the originals with that many miles on them. I recently replaced them with Eagle HP's....the cost was just a couple of dollars more per tire, and they had much better specs than the GTII's, which were still available. I have those on the stock rims, and have Kumho's on my 17" rims that are on the car now. Gotta keep those stock wheels...

My 87 Fiero still has its original tires. They are goodyear Eagle they are dryrotted a bit but PLENTY of tread since car only has 000079.9 original miles on it ED
Since no one else has asked, is it a good idea to have 16-20 year-old tires on your car? I was under the impression that rubber aged independantly from the wear and this was definitely a bad thing. Am I just misinformed, or are some of you flirting with blowouts?

I've heard the same thing about "old" tires- I've never noticed a big difference but I wouldn't be surprised if the old GTs and GT+4s were not providing 100% of their performance when new.
Anyone else try Eagle RS-As? I have them on the 86 GT in stock sizes- seem to work OK, and give a stocker look. I also want to try the new Eagle GT HRs when I get a chance.
Why do I like Eagles? Same reason I like original paint. I like stock OEM stuff (or as close a possible).

I've got a set of RSA's on my '97 Avenger. They handle great in the dry. Not so good in the wet. They are 17" 40 series P225. I like 'em....
