2001 Intrepid RT black on black with black wheels and black windows
Suggestions (this is dependant on both the tone of the interior and exterior): These all generally have to be of a darker shade: Green (like mine! ) Blue (Metallic Navy - Ferrari has done this) Burgundy (88GT's were nice this way) Gunmetal (a bit odd, but I like it) Black (very nice) Gold (I'm not huge fan of this one, but it works) And even White...
I think a lot of it depends on "how" it's done... it helps to have matching "accessories" (which can sometimes be difficult to find) like "gold" accents instead of chrome/silver.
I have personally seen two gold cars a 1986SE and 1987GT that were factory optioned with grey, it was special order and looked HORRIBLE. My 1987GT was gold originally, and tan interior, i swapped out the tan 86-87 style and put in some 1988 beechwood interior, still tan, but alittle nicer, i also had my car painted ford snow white, it was the brightest white that my paint man could find, in the sunlight, you cannot look at my car, as when you look away, its hard to see anything else.
my car is basically an 88 clone.
Green looks good with tan, White, Black, and Gold, not really sure i like any of the other colors.
Personally, if i could have afforded the factory gold paint, it would still be gold today. new gold paint is beautiful, and not many people repaint them gold.

Yup... I'd switch the 'Formula' door graphics (and the decklid 'Fiero' logo) to metallic gold vinyl, and put an '84 nose badge on it ('cuz they were gold instead of silver)... trade the black 'lace' rims from it for a set of gold ones from an '88 GT, and I'd be a pretty happy camper...
Of course, now someone's gonna steal my idea... so go for it. I wanna see it.
EDIT - and I've always wanted to have a white wingless '88 GT with a tan interior... sorta 'Miami Vice Testarossa'-ish.

you know, i just went to the chicago auto show a few days back and my favorit color combo had a tan or brown interior. it was like a midnight blue. when the interior lights came it was absolutly butiful... i think it was an audi but ill look for a picture. but my vote is midnight blue all the way.

Black...uh, Black. I know black and gold or black and tan are a worn out combination but there's nothing goes as good a s black with your tan interior. I saw someone painted a Fiero brown to match the tan interior...what a mistake! Nothing uglier then a turd brown sports car. Ok, I guess green goes pretty good with it too. I had a 77 Cutlass that was dark blue poly metalic with a tan interior and top and It looked pretty good. Ford did a bunch of Eddie Bower Explorers in that color combo. Pearl white would work well too. Volvo has a pearl white that's like a bone or eggshell that would go great with a tan interior. I think Doug Kinney did his GT in that combo but his interior is beachwood, not tan.

It's not GM gold, rather 2001 Chrysler Champagne Pearl Metallic on my former GT. It's a great color for someone wishing they could paint the car silver. It's actually more silvery in person, about the color that the factory gold fades to. It never failed to get looks, and didn't caost more then any other color would have.

I know everyone cringes on the silver/tan combo but Mazda uses it on the Miata (silver body, tan interior and top) and it does not look that bad.
I think personally the tan should of been the int color for the yellow Fiero in '88.
Hey Chris (fiero_sc), glad to see you're still around. I was getting worried that you'd dropped out of the Fiero universe.
My $.02 is that silvewr would not be your best choice for that interior unless you are for sure going to change it. A dark green would look awesome. My favorite color combo is a Jaguar green with a tan interior. They had several on display at the recent North American International Auto show in Detroit.

MinnGreen: what color green is that, i love that color?
Currently the color is based on '95 Corvette "Medium Metallic Green" with a Gold Pearl added, but when it comes time for fresh paint I'm thinking of going with something a shade or two brighter/greener (for some reason I'm irritated by people who think my car is black in low-light conditions).
High end european cars like Mercedes use basicly tan or brown interior with ANY exterior color. Ive see some gorgeous dark blue, green, yellow SLs and Ferraris all with tan or brown interiors.
Dave, at Fiero Warehouse in Wheeling, has a gorgeous pearl white one with brown interior. Maybe someone else has a few pics of it. I think he used Cadillac Pearl White.

I have the same dilema with a black/tan car. I do like the idea of adding black accents to the interior to phase the brown out a little bit. The Mr. Mikes seat covers look good, I'll probably get something very similar for mine, as their "dark" brown isnt really that dark. Along with a black wheel and black floor mats will help me get started. I wanted to paint my Camaro black before the Fiero came along, so I wouldn't mind going with a different color. The green suprisingly looks great with the tan interior, nice cars guys!
