John Callies and the people at Pontiac thought the duke was the best candidate for racing developement in the eighties. The 2.7 liter pumped up engine made 180hp and 170ft pds of torque. Not bad. The super pumped up race version made 275hp. Very good. The game lets you mod your engine so the duke wouldn't be a bad car if you pump it up. That 180hp street car did the 0-60 in 6.3 sec with the 4.10 four speed. That is preety fast.
That said I would love to see my car in the game as well. I have an 86 GT four speed. I would also Love to see the 88 formula with the five speed. But for now I am just glad we are in the game but I will sign the petition. I can't wait to drive the 84 in that game the severly pumped up version.
I have to take a moment out of this topic to point out that the 2.5L "Iron Duke" really has nothing in common with the 2.7L "Super Duty" motor that Pontiac used in the racing program... The two have little more in common than 4 cylinders.
I do have a small "gripe" with this topic... The game is being released in March! They've already completed at least 99% of the game development by this point it time - there is nothing a petition with a million signatures could about it now. BUT - it could be directed more toward the next game! (ie: We'd really like to see more models, options, and/or modifications available for the Fiero, etc...) Think about it!
...that being said - I'm off to check out this petition thing

Minn hate to tell you this, but the game has already been pushed to June and is not predicted to be released until August. Also I just got us 137, 138.

*update* It was GT fans "hope" it would be released in April, but it has been delayed to the end of this year if not longer that is for certain, otherwise I would not have made the petition if there were no hope for us. I got a reply back from Sony, keep up the great work guys! I already got other people from other forums and co-workers who don't even know what a Fiero is but respect our cause.
" Hello Alexander,
Thank you for writing us.
We value your input and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We are very familiar with Japanese cars but admit when it comes to American cars it is not so. Please rest assured that we will convey your concerns to Sony Computer Entertainment America's ("SCEA") appropriate management.
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced that Gran Turismo 4 is currently in development. Gran Turismo 4 is scheduled for release in winter 2004 (please note that all release dates are subject to change). For future updates and press releases regarding this title, please visit:

i understand what you are trying to say but do you know how long it takes to make a game? i doubt there will be any changes made in such a short period of time. they are prob trying to work out the kinks right now. i hope that our recommendations are taken in to account for gt5.
almost a year is a long time to make changes big or small
when i was part of the sony development team for their online everquest game, in just the 2 months after beta and before release we made hundreds of changes to stats, models, and structures.

I stand corrected on the release date thing!
Dang! ...last that I read a month or so ago, it was scheduled for a Spring release. That sucks... still, I don't think they'll be adding any more cars to the exisiting lineup though.

Ya, a version called GT4: Prolouge came out in Japan with fewer cars and tracks. As it says in the email I got from Sony, the release date is scheduled for Winter.

I worked at Konami for a few years and there were occasions where we spent some number of months bug testing relatively simple GameBoy Advance games, sometimes even after the game had shipped. Mind you it wasn't heavy testing, but one of our games returned well over 300 bugs. I can only imagine how long it would take a game as advanced as GT4 to be beta tested before being pressed and shipped, especially seeing how GT4 is touted as a Racing Simulator.
Adding just one car to the game would probably result in having to play test just that one car through the entire game, possibly against every car there available, with every car's mods, 3 or more times each. I'm with MinnGreenGT on this one. If we're lucky we'll see more and better Fieros in the next edition of GT (perhaps 5 will be on PS3? ), and if we're luckier, we'll see more Fieros. Also, since GT's a multi-million seller, I'm sure we'll need more than a few hundred signatures to get their attention. Maybe if we send them pics of the best Fieros we've got here along with the petition? I'll sign it
I dont think it matters if it is a hopeless cause. It only take 10 seconds to sign the petition, and it cant hurt anything. At a minimum we show them that there is support for this car. Also I posted then on one of the other forums I sometimes visit. They were less than supportive. I let them have it though, for the Fieros sake.
How are there 800 views but only 200 signatures. Sign it even if you dont think it will work, or play video games. Show your support for the car.

Kinda lets you know why there is so little support for our cars though. We have 150 signatures out of this entire forum. The Eclipse has over 2000! I know they made those cars more recently and made more of them.. But dang, we have a lot of Fiero lovers!
Signed it!!!! I hope to see the GT and formula in the game as well that would be awesome, even though I love GameCube and strongly like my X-BOX I may have to be force to buy a lowly PS2 (I know they sell well but I don't like them) just for this game. You wouldn't think I would like fieros after all the crap they have put me through, but what can I say they're an awesome car.

This could have an impact or could be a total lost cause. Either way it doesn't hurt to try and like others have said maybe this'll bring light upon future versions.

number 173 and a bump for anyone that may have missed this!

------------------ Smokin Joe Fission 1985 Fiero SE 2.8 Perhaps I shouldn't have taken on a Fiero that the original owner said he liked to work on, especially after it spent some time 'submerged'. At least the car was free.
Bump.... Come on and sign.... even if you dont like the game it sells to millions. Good way to get peoples attention by having this car in the game. Its a Very very popular game. there are like 6 or so Forums for Gran Turismo and the one I am a member of has over 12,000 members. I have been bringing the Fiero to there attention there and this needs your support.
